“Really not suitable for anyone”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 November 2011

We stayed here for two weeks, first impressions said it all.

You have to climb a steam and badly maintained hill to reach the hotel. There is no lift,so you will be lugging your luggage up the stairs.

The hotel is rather isolated as there is only one restaurant close by(bottom of the hill and used mainly by locals).

Also be per-pared to have your passport taken off you until you leave!

The pool is ok as it really does not get busy, the bar and food facilities are very minimal.

I m afraid the rooms do not fair any better,we had to walk to the nearest supermarket(20 minute walk minimum) to obtain cleaning products. The room was dirty and still had reminders of past occupants. You will receive twin beds pushed together for a double room, the best being very old wooden ones wit thin mattress....don't expect any sleep.
Please dont use the cooking facilities(two rings!) they are all badly wired and dangerous.

If you want nightlife or a nice meal, jump on the bus or walk into Kos town.We did most evenings and its brilliant.

Would recommend visiting the ruins and Hypocrites tree,do not touch the feral cats though!

Just returned from our 2nd stay at the Aristo, arrived at lunchtime but our room wasn't quite ready so the manager (Aristos) gave us a complimentary drink,it was well worth the wait though, the room was really spacious and clean,2 bedrooms, seperate kitchen and the view from the large balcony was amazing with sea views looking out to Turkey. The kitchen was basic with a 2 ring cooker, but we don't cook on holiday anyway only used it to boil water,a large fridge which was handy for drinks, fruit etc. Some of the comments don't do the Aristo justice, lets not forget this is a 2-3* self catering accommodation but in my opinion should be more,if you want 5* there are plenty of all inclusive hotels around.Kos Town is absolutely lovely especially at night, you are spoilt for choice for places to eat, traditional greek, chinese, mexican, italian, even a McDonalds although a bit more expensive than at home,if you prefer steak and ribs though check out a place called "Boomerang" well worth a visit. There's also a nice taverna at the bottom of the hill (from aristo turn right) called Nikos and Kontessa, really nice food and good service.Buses into kos town were really frequent and cheap enough about 5-6 euros for family of four,a taxi will cost you about 10 euros. We found the staff at the Aristo very friendly whether you were spending money at the bar or not, pool area was very clean and tidy, plenty for the kids there was a toddler play area, tabletennis, pool, internet cafe, darts. We had a great holiday again and looking to book it for next year along with some other families we met this time around.Remember it is what you make it and the majority of greek accommodation is basic.

Lets start with the good stuff it wont take long...
The weather is great, beautiful place in Kos town, not bad price wise for food but drinks are expensive. There are lots of nice places to visit but dont go with rep, hire scooter/quad or get bus this is MUCH cheaper!

Cleanliness:
Ok, bad stuff. The apartments were the most basic I have ever been! No kettle, iron so on. It was clean the firsy day we went but after that are room was never cleaned or sheets changed. we asked a few times for these to be done and after much going to and fro still not cleaned to standard. For example; my partner cut his foot(which I will explain more later) there was blood on the floor and sheets, we told manager and he said it would be cleaned. On return that evening found there was still some blood around and sheets had not been changed. I had to get really cross to get across that I was serious as the staff seem to take everything so laid back and dont see what the problem is.

FOOD+DRINK:
In hotel the food is crap, very basic snack food burnt and not tasty. cheap tho. Drinks are buy 1 get 1 free which is good but keep an eye as when you get large they give you small! Staff are laid back and lazy in our opinion. On one occasion they were playing cards and I was told to wait (I cannot wrote what I said to this!) On another they were watching the match and waited for 20 mins before I was served. I have never experienced worse service!!!!

POOL:
This was an ok size for the resort, but never saw it cleaned and could not smell chlorine. I have got an ear infection now because of this. There are nowhere near enough beds for everyone so you need to get up early, even then some people leave them over night. There are flies absolutely everywhere here and they hang those horrible sticky strips from every available space, even so they are still crawling all over bar and things.

HEALTH+SAFETY:
Please be careful of the steps in room as my partner one night cut the top of his toe off, we had to flap the skin back over and bandage it. The next day we used the card that the rep KEVIN gave us and went to the doctors. When we got there, there was no one in site, we asked at a cafe across the road, he told us he had NEVER seen anyone there. That they also charge a fortune, he sent us to one very close which was great. They butterfly stitched it and cleaned and did not charge us.
When we told the rep he said QUOTE what do you want me to do END QUOTE. This pretty much says it all about the reps helpfulnesss, he never came to see us after this nor did the hotel manager and we also never recieved a questionnaire.

So to sum up go to Greece but never stay in these apartments EVER!!!

Let's put into perspective some of the other comments on here...

The staff were only friendly if you were drinking until 4am in the morning, jumping in the pool and/or smashing glass....

Music played until 4am and 5am - despite reporting to the 'rep' absolutely nothing done about it...!!

This is advertised as a family run, family oriented apartments.....think carefully before you go.

This is our second time to these apartments, also went in 2008 - they are getting worse, not better....!!

We booked Aristo very last minute and was pleased about the facilities there (pool, play areas, table tennis, etc.) With two young children, they were entertained all day long. Bar snacks and drinks were very reasonable especially when you compare them to some other places in and around Psalidi/Kos Town which we found generally expensive.
There is a slight hill which does make you get a sweat on when pushing a buggy but it gets easier as the days go on!
We did not find the staff particularly friendly (the manager was nice though) and it definately seemed they only liked those that propped the bar up all night and threw spare change into the tip pot. The lady behind the bar rarely smiled. The maid service was not great and the floor became very dusty. The bins were emptied nearly every day, we only had clean towels and the beds changed a few times. The kitchen area was not very useful - take a travel kettle. We were pleased with how spacious our apartment was (no. 13) as we had booked a one bedroomed apartment and got two bedrooms with a seperate sitting area. No air con but we had two fans that did suffice.
Bus service into town was very good but pricey as return trips mount up.
The closest beaches are not great, Therma is ok for the hot water pool, Tigaki and Paradise beaches were beautiful. We went to the water park and the 3 island cruise, both great days out. Views across the Aegean and out to Turkey are fantastic from Aristo.
Tuesday night is Aristo party night (dancing, air horns, fire crackers) was very loud but didn't disturb the children't sleep and was the only night we were bothered by the noise but it's to be expected on holiday.
Tonnes of flies, very annoying! Take a repellant for them and the mosquitoes!
All in all we found Aristo really lovely, shame about the staff...

There is so much more that could be done to the Aristo... We found the accommodation very basic...clean but basic..the pool was lovely if a bit small, food was ok but boring and expensive, Picturesque setting, would benefit from an overhaul...could be so nice if they offered more...and up dated there outlook...Perfect setting poor amenities!
Kos town just a 10 min bus away, taverna next door to Aristo very good, supermarket to left of Aristo...BAD...highly inflated prices, car hire a must, also go visit Mitsis Ramira beach hotel... Best day of the holiday!
Get a trip to Turkey on a Tuesday...Clothes market..wicked day. Bargains to be had..
We did the 3 island cruise. a must for a relaxing day out!
The whole holiday was spent worrying about all the cats/kittens that are abandoned. If you are staying at the Aristo please let me know ASAP...Thank you
Val x

I will write an honest review.
first the positives.
Spacious clean rooms, clean pool area, free WIFI,excellent view from our room.
that's about it.
negatives....
I found bar music to be VERY LOUD indeed. that went on on most nights until 3-4 am.
it was extremely discomforting to get sleep with doors open and you do not have choice as in August heat without AC in not comfortable at all.
Even after complaining about it for 3 days it made no difference. it wasn't just us there were other family complaining too!
Staff were not interested in listening if you were not spending money at the bar. as far as loud music goes they were happy to keep playing music as long as they can sale drinks.
and that went on most nights until 3-4 am. one early morning they even put the pool lights on for drunken idiots that was 4 am !! As far as i am concern if one cannot get a decent night sleep you are not in a good state for enjoying following day.
so if you are looking for relaxing peace full location and a decent night of sleep i truly believe this is not the place. on the other hand if you can sleep through loud music, shouting, air horn sound every 15 minutes and in humid condition then go ahead !!!
it is a shame really if the owners get their act to gather it can be a nice place for a lovely family holiday. unfortunately they are only interested in making money at the bar.
we stayed in ground floor apartment which did not have any breeze. top floor apartments are better in terms of view and breeze.
there is not enough sunbeds to accommodate all. out of all the sunbeds i would say only hand full beds are adjustable!
Kitchen area- if you want to anything more than heat up Baked beans you will struggle as there was not enough pans/pots. no electric kettle/toaster/microwave. just 2 tiny electric rings to cook!
Fridge in something you see in scrap yard rusting no freezer lid. i would not like to keep anything in that fridge as in that heat it can quickly go off. OK for keeping beer and water.
there are better hotels available that's for sure.
NO TV ! NO AC ! fans provided but useless.
i will not be back, sorry..

Room Tip: top floor has better view and breeze
