How good this place is !

We spent 5 days at the end of September. From being picked up at the airport and taken directly to our room where we were met with a bottle of Veuve Clicquot and a fruit platter.

Nothing is too much trouble. The staff can't do enough for you.

The towel fairies tidy your room and lay out your beach towels around the beautifully warm pool. Or remembering your breakfast and coffee choice and recommending wine to accompany the beautiful dinners.

I picked a car up for a few days to take a look at the rest of the island but the team would have been more than happy to take us wherever we wanted to go.

There is a small perfectly formed gym which we went in most days with a trainer ready and waiting to take you through some yoga or pilates.

The restaurant was excellent. The menu is comprehensive and generously proportioned and available in your room if you like as well !

The beach is North facing and is groomed every morning and has paddle boards and kayaks to amuse the active.

The spa is excellent and worth at least one visit.

Accommodation. Excellent. Bvlgari toiletries replaced everyday. Excellent WIFI so we were able to stream onto the large up to date Sony Widescreens as well as a Mac if you need to do some work as well.

Kitchen has a fridge and freezer and a nespresso with almost limitless capsules for you to use.

If I could of stayed here longer I would but they were full for the final two days.

To sum up. The personal care and attention that everybody pays you and your stay plus the accommodation and facilities make me feel sorry for every other hotel trying to reach this standard. its a solid 6 star which would put quite a few London 5 star hotels a run for there money.

Room Tip: All rooms are excellent and to a very high standard

I was pleasantly surprised to encounter even in Europe such a high quality. Congratulations to the entire team that have been working in this resort. They have made us feel like in a family. The entire staff is extremely well prepared and have submitted all the efforts that we should feel very good all the time.
About the villas I must say that absolutely all of them are extremely better positioned, all have all the comfort to which you expect from a 5-star hotel a small gym, a kids playroom, spa, free wifi, In the first three days we occupied the villa number 3 right near the reception desk, which has been very comfortable. After the first three days Stavroula has made us a huge surprise (especially for my 10 years old son) : a new vila with a lot more space, and a huge swimming pool.
I must mention the Chef, which surprised us every day with very tasty food.
We highly recommend Porto Zante Villas and spa to anyone who is looking for exclusivity, tranquility, highest level of service, fantastic food and relaxation without compromising on any of today's comforts
Special thanks to Stavroula and all the team!!!!

Room Tip: each and every villa is just perfect!!

My wife, two young daughters and I just spent two weeks at Porto Zante. We did enjoy the stay, largely due to the amazing food, great service and fun beach. But that said, it wasn't a "hands down" five star as there are aspects to PZ that don't make the five star hurdle.

THE LOCATION: To avoid any confusion, Zakynthos isn't Mykonos. This is largely a budget tourist destination and there really isn't that much to do around the island (and the popular things like the shipwreck beach or "turtle island" are typically swarming with tourists). So you will likely spend virtually all your time on the resort. But that's not a bad thing, consider it a gilded cage.

PZ is small with 8 villas and a lovely private beach. But if your idea of a holiday is to do a lot of different things this might not be an ideal destination. However if you're looking to unwind and take it easy, that you can do with ease at PZ.

THE VILLA(s). We had a two bedroom villa spread over two floors. Like all villas it has its own small pool (nothing you could do laps in, but great for lounging and our girls spent hours playing in the it). The villa was one of the aspects of PZ that fell short of five stars. It certainly wasn't luxurious, but was functional. The decor was rather slapdash. It was like a bunch of different stuff was bought and tossed into the villa to furnish it. The beds were seriously uncomfortable (something we confirmed with other guests) and the lighting bewildering (good luck figuring out the scores of light switches). But it was the use of fluorescent lighting in the bathroom and flatpack closets that look like they came from Ikea that were examples of well below five star. Also there were empty electrical conduit tubes popping up through the floors throughout the condo that management couldn't be bothered to hide. Also the bathrooms were small for a large villa. Overall the villa rather reminded me of a beach house that somebody furnishes modestly and cheaply as they don't want to worry about a renter trashing their furniture. Not exactly five star.

Another annoying feature of our villa was lots of wifi dead zones. We had a very nice sofa on the outdoor patio, but if you needed wifi you'd need to get up and walk 10 feet to the main living area to get a wifi signal. That was also the case for the two chaise lounges in the villa's pool area.

And yet another annoying feature was they had these nice chaise lounges placed on the edge of the pool area with (theoretically) beautiful vistas of the ocean below ---- but no, PZ decided to plant a bunch of bushes in front of you. So you ended up hearing the waves, but staring at a bunch of green bushes?!? Who had that brilliant idea? I'm mean you'd think that looking at the ocean and watching a sunset from the comfort of your private chaise lounges would be something obvious. I don't need to come to Greece to stare at bushes but that's what my Villa's chaise lounges offered me.

And one other unthoughtful thing was while the pool was ringed with marble, the deck area was a polished wood that was deadly slippery for wet feet. On my first day there I learned that the hard way slipping on the wood, yielding an Achilles' tendon strain.

It all underscores aspects of the villas that just weren't thought through very well.

THE GYM. My wife and I like to work out, and if that's something you want to do on holiday, don't expect to be inspired by the gym at PZ. It's tiny and cramped. One treadmill, one elliptical and one bike. Some weight machines and barbells but very little room to stretch. We eventually gave up going and went for long swims instead.

THE KIDS' CLUB - doesn't really exist. How PZ purportedly won the Condé Nast Family Resort award is a mystery to me. We travel a lot and have experienced great Kids' Clubs, this was perhaps the worst. It's really just a kids' room, and like the gym, tiny. But Kids' Clubs can be awesome even in small venues if they have a great program, but here there is no real program. The woman who runs the club also runs the gym --- so there is no dedicated person creating a program of activities. And don't take my word for it, while our daughters only spent two odd hours at the "club" they declared on the third day that they hated it, it was boring, there was nothing to do and they didn't want to go back.

We went to the staff to raise our concerns about the lack of activities and to their credit they found a lovely British lady, Taylor, who came in for a couple of hours each day and created a bunch of activities for our girls and she with the help of a Greek lady, Gina, kept our girls happy for a few hours a day.

So if you are thinking of going to PZ with kids and you want them to spend some time at the kids' club you should plan ahead with PZ and ensure they are staffed up and have a program of activities to keep you children entertained. Make sure you ask them to get Taylor!

THE BEACH. The beach was great. You had your own umbrella and chaise lounges assigned to your villa so there was never a need for the morning sprint to secure nice locations. PZ had beach toys, paddle boards, kayaks and a pedal driven mini catamaran with four seats. It was our favorite place to spend time. But a word of caution, you access the beach via 65 odd stone steps so the very young and very old need to keep that in mind. Also there were some days, usually in the afternoon, where the wind picked up and the water got a bit rough.

THE SPA. The spa is a dedicated room just above and overlooking the beach. It's a very pretty setting. My wife has back issues and knows a good massage when she has one (and typically a good massage is hard to find at a lot of resorts). But the massage here was amazing and she said she was literally "floating" after one of her many massages.

THE FOOD -- was amazing. And that's a good thing given you don't really have dining options outside (unless you want a €3 gyro). PZ has two places to eat, the Club House and Maya (the latter being a recently opened Asian restaurant). The two are side by side and perched on a cliff overlooking PZ's beach with beautiful views of the sea. But frankly, other than breakfast we tended to eat in our villa as the room service was so amazing. Full credit to the amazing kitchen staff who worked fast and produced consistently good food (the grilled octopus and tempura oysters were mindbogglingly good). The complaint that my wife and I often muttered was that we weren't that hungry but we'd order anyway as the food was so good. And they were super flexible. We could tweak around the menu for our daughters and the amazing staff was happy to oblige. If you go to PZ, prepare to feast.

But all that amazing food comes at a price. Indeed a price that would make a Swiss hotelier weep for joy. The prices for food were about the highest I recall seeing (and I'm thinking in comparison to places like Le Bristol in Paris, The Connaught in London, the Four Seasons in Hong Kong and the Alpina in Gstaad). My older daughter loves her pancakes in the morning (which were on the menu). She'd get her plate of two medium sized pancakes and my wallet would shrivel by €20. A single glass of champagne was €32. My Greek yogurt (a pack of three was €2.50 in nearby Tsivili) was €7 each. That said, and to quote a song lyric that was overly played in my house, "let it go, let it go" and enjoy. I've never paid €70 for a salad before (albeit the Porto Zante salad comes with lots of either lobster or king crab and is for two) but it was one of the best salads I've had. So expect to pay borderline ridiculous prices, but the food was worth it.

THE SERVICE - was good. As noted above, the food staff (the unseen kitchen crew and the amazing crew who set up your table and deliver your food) were the stars of PZ. If it weren't for them I'd be writing a different review. They were diligent and smiling and ever attentive. Also full credit to the hard working housekeeping staff who did a great job and always appeared for turndown service in the evening at the time we asked (something that bedevils a lot of hotels) and the ground staff and drivers. All worked hard to keep PZ humming and pretty. The front of house staff were good, but at times requests for something were a little messed up depending on whom you were dealing with. While always friendly and attentive, the execution of minor things sometimes fell through the cracks but inevitably were dealt with after follow up.

On balance, we had a great stay. Once we sorted out the lack of a decent kids' club, we got into a wonderful daily routine. And the beach and the amazing food were the standouts. The one thing that would be a nice addition would be if they had a larger, common pool for the whole resort. As noted before the pools in the villas are on the smallish side and there were some afternoons where the water at the beach was a bit rough (certainly too rough for our daughters) and having a larger pool option would be a great addition one day.

A hidden treasure for those who are looking for exclusivity beyond measures, for the best quality in every experience.

Staying at Porto Zante Villas & Spa turned to be the secret key for enjoying the summer in one of the most beautiful island in Greece. A paradise with a very strong personality, reminds us the combination of the beautiful greek summer with many exotic characteristics.

The very modern villas with the swimming pool in front of each room, the breathtaking view , the beautiful beach with the crystal clear water, the amazing and very kind personnel, the live music, the 2 gourmet restaurants with fresh food and amazing dishes and the best cocktails, the relaxing spa next to the beach with the sound of the Ionian Sea, the activities for us and for the children made our stay unforgettable.

We totally recommend this boutique hotel to those who are looking for the best quality, quite moments with their partner and with their family or friends, exclusivity and want to fulfill everyday of their lives with unforgettable memories.

Cant wait to come back and spend time next year to this beautiful resort.

Thank you for making this trip unforgettable for us.

Until next time..

Best Regards,

Aliki D.

We never return until we found Porto Zante and here we are again. First time on our 20th wedding anniversary with our daughter and, since, twice on our own.

What is the attraction? Pick up from airport in a classy Mercedes and in 20 minutes we are there welcomed by the lovely Stavroula and her team.

If you want to eat within villa that's fine which we did each morning for a lovely breakfast but you must visit the restaurant in the evening just to meet up with other guests and a great menu.

On the rare occasion we went to the nearby town, Stavroula organised taxi there and back ....no problem.

Will we return? Probably. It's our silver anniversary next year!

Room Tip: We have stayed in both 2 and 1 bed villas. All great with endless sea view.

This boutique hotel is located 20 minutes’ drive from the airport. It is not signposted and therefore totally private but accessed with excellent security to the main property.

As soon as you pass through the security gates you enter an oasis of calm, beauty and perfection in every way.

Upon arrival, Stavroula Lallou, the Guest Relations Manager, greeted us in a most friendly and warm but highly professional manner. We arrived early and our villa was not yet ready but our time at the main restaurant, admiring the beautiful view with some lovely refreshments was no inconvenience at all.

Each villa is beautifully appointed with superb sea views. Unusually and rarely, the photographs shown on the website do not do justice to the superb design, quality of furnishings and most stunning vista. We booked the Royal One Bedroom Spa Villa. There are only 2 of this type and ours was on the higher level of the property. The advantage of being at the higher end of the property is that whilst you may have an ever so slightly more distant sea view, you have more sun in the later evening. For those who would love to hear the sea, some of the grand & presidential villas may appeal.

The beach photographs are absolutely fair and accurate with a lovely cross section of sporting activities. The fully private beach is cared for and prepared every day for guests to enjoy the sea with every comfort possible.

During our stay, we only ever saw one other couple on the beach.

We dined once in the new Asian restaurant which is to be fully recommended not only for the beautiful sea vista and sunset but also the excellence of the cuisine. You could have been dining at a premier/gourmet restaurant in any capital city in Europe.

In fact, the cuisine at every level was superb, whether it was in the villa or elsewhere. On not one occasion were we disappointed and every nuance and request was greeted with enthusiasm and relish. For any Gourmand, certainly a highlight.

Much has been commented elsewhere on trip advisor about the service and that no request or effort was too little or too large and this cannot be emphasised enough. The training of all the team is world class and there is a certain passion to be found in all team members that clearly highlights the very high standards that are being applied and any five star deluxe hotel would be proud of achieving. Every team member was engaging, warm and friendly, attentive but also discreet whenever needed. The serious attention to details, whether it may be Christofle chop sticks or a special English porcelain cup for tea in the mornings, cannot be commended enough.

Equally impressive was that everybody was willing to get their hands dirty and help out where needed.

Also, some which is perhaps not commented on enough is the quality of the spa. The photographs do not do it justice in that it is only a few feet away from the sea and to have a treatment in one of the rooms whilst you are having a massage and enjoying the sound of the sea beneath you is a truly superb experience. The quality of the therapists were fantastic and we were lucky enough to enjoy a couple of treatments.

Sadly, our stay was only for three nights but we are already planning our return as this property has now reached the catalogue of our top three in the world. For anyone who is looking for exclusivity, tranquility, highest level of service, fantastic food and relaxation without compromising on any of today's comforts, such as a very strong and reliable WiFi, we could not recommend it enough.

Room Tip: All rooms are superb, just decide how close to the sea you want to be
