“Home away from home”

This reconstructed home and winery is comfortable roomy and quiet. Giuseppe is fully fluent in English and Ninnie and Cristina can get by in French if Italian is not your thing. We were warmly welcomed and our hosts were helpful and non-intrusive and brought us several Sicilian delicacies. The apartment is fully equipped and everything works including WiFi.The house is somewhat difficult to find . It is at the very end of via St Vito facing down that road. Parking is easy right in front of the house or beside it. A car (and a gps!) are essential to find your way to Pedara. When you get to Pedara (forget the gps that will lead you in circles and look for the signs to the Centro, pass the church and St Vito ie the second road on your right. Pedara is a pleasant town, somewhat quiet on the off season. If you are a jogger there is a park close by with terra cotta tiles that are easy on your feet- or almost adjacent is the somewhat steep Ron up MonteToiira (? Spelling) All in all a great place to unwind away from hordes of other tourists.

“Beautiful appartment in gorgeous historic building between volcano & sea”

Even though we arrived very late (2am) the hosts Christina & Nini waited for us to arrive and gave us a warm welcome. They also kindly ensured we had enough supplies for breakfast the following day. The apartment could not have been cleaner or more complete with everything we could need to make ourselves fully at home for the week of our stay.

After breakfast on our first morning we were given a tour of the building by the Giuseppe, the hosts son who has excellent English. We were given full access to the garden, court yard and roof terrace with its splendid views of Etna and also down to the Mediterranean Sea.

We found Pedara to be a lovely town on the slopes of Etna still retaining a very authentic Sicilian feel unblemished by tourism which can sometimes be seen at some of the costal resorts. Restaurants, pizzerias or local produce shops were easily available within a short walk. Its also an ideal base to explore Eastern Sicily. If you do have a car there is ample free parking in the street outside.

The hosts Christina, Nini and Giuseppe could not have been kinder or more welcoming making us feel completely at home. They also introduced us to some wonderful local cuisine.

This is a holiday we shall treasure for a very long time.
