My wife, 22 year old daughter, and I needed a place to stay when we did not get a flight to come home from Milan (we fly standby.) This hotel was 5 minutes away from Malpensa Airport by shuttle. It was very nice and extremely modern. You know you are getting old when you don't know how to work the room lights! This room had a place for you to put your room "key" (the plastic card type) in order to make the lights in the room stay on. After having all of the lights go suddenly black, we realized, "Oh!!" "The key has to be in the wall slot!!!" In addition, there was some sort of "black light" for lack of a better description, in the bathroom where if you needed to get up during the night, you could turn it on and it wouldn't disturb the others in your party by suddenly enveloping the room in bright light. Nice. Made us feel like Jed Clampett and the Beverly Hillbillies when they got their first look at the "cement pond" in their new yard though. Breakfast was ample and decent. Eggs, bacon, toast, croissants, coffee, juice, cereal, jelly, etc., and you could eat all you wanted. Good place to stay on a layover, (although the airport is a pretty good distance from Milan Central) and we'd stay there again in a similar situation. Price was reasonable too considering the fact that it's an airport hotel.

Great Hotel for easy access to Malpensa Airport. The hotel also offers a shuttle service to the airport. Just make sure you get in quick as spots fill up quickly and as you getting into mid-morning, more and more people are waiting for the bus.

The Hotel is modern and the room was clean, comfortable and quiet. The breakfast was really good and had plenty of variety.

You can't beat a lot of factors here: the cleanliness, affordability, affability of front desk staff, huge breakfast buffet, reliable shuttle. The windows almost totally soundproof the plane noises. Everything was delivered as promised. Yes, there is practically nowhere to eat, but we followed Milena's directions and walked 5 minutes through Somma Lombardo (a strange little area) to the nearby pizzeria. The food there was fabulous and the joint was jumping! Mixed drinks only 5 Euro - try to find that anywhere else in Italy! Christian at the bar was friendly, and it was obviously a neighborhood hangout with great decorating. All in all, the HIE was fantastic.

Reception personnel were great. Watched them try to explain to someone who didn't speak any of the languages the staff spoke why he had to leave a deposit (credit card or cash). They were very patient. We were treated like we were some VIP. Had a room with 4 beds which helped because we had an 8 month old. We slid 2 beds together & put her in the middle. Breakfast buffet was good. Had scrambled eggs, bacon, cereals, the European cold cuts & cheese, pastries, bagels, croissants, several selections of fruit & juices. yogurt and a great coffee machine which introduced us to latte macchiatos. Had a shuttle from the airport as well. They also let us leave stroller and suitcases for a week while we went to Venice.

My family with three children had to leave very early in the morning from Malpensa airport.
The choice of this hotel was not regretted, as our two sufficiently large rooms were conveniently connected by a door, and the shuttle for the airport was fast and efficient.
Breakfast was good and varied (included in the price, as always in the HIX brand).
No pool, but also the Crowne Plaza Malpensa which is close-by has none, so overall I think this is a valid alternative to the CP if price is significantly lower.
There is no restaurant, only a bar close to the lobby which offers some simple food we did not try.
