Third or fourth visit to this little gem for us yesterday evening and every time we have such a lovely time. The food is very, very good and presented beautifully. Jane and John are great hosts. Views from the hotel are stunning. If you are visiting this neck of the woods then definitely make a reservation to eat here. We will be back for sure!

The biggest problem is actually finding the place, if your Sat-Nav is anything like ours you travel down lanes with the hedges touching the car on both sides while praying to God you don't meet anything coming the other way – especially if it’s dark. Once you arrive you soon forget about the trials and tribulations of actually getting there.
There is not a lot you can say about this place that doesn't involve superlatives. The service is superb and by booking tables at 15 minute intervals you get one-to-one service at the highest level. There are top notch places in London that could learn a few tricks here, you're made to feel special, not rushed and because of low cover numbers the owners can devote time to making your visit an experience you remember without being intrusive.
We always find it difficult reviewing restaurants in respect of their food because on a single visit you only eat one main-course and personal preferences play a big part in assessing food. What we can say is every dish we had was cooked and served to perfection. From that you have to deduce all the others would be of equal quality.
The wine list is extensive and the prices are not on a level you would expect when matched with the quality of the food. Again City establishments with eye-watering prices for a bottle of wine could learn from this policy. We thought they were very reasonable.
We left after two starters, two mains, a cheeseboard, wine and coffee and a perfect evenings dining with a bill for under £100.
We both commented that we thought it was one of the best restaurants we had experienced in a good many years. No hesitation recommending or returning in the future.

Visited on a quiet night after Easter. Beautiful location even on a drizzly evening. Host very welcoming. Delicious starter of salmon with Wild Wolf Gin sorbet! Main courses also delicious and good value for money.

We were really impressed. Three courses of the highest quality. The soup.... the venison.... the fish.... the desert..... could not be faulted. John, who is both part owner with his wife Jane, and Chef, is clearly a very capable and I am not saying that just because he is a fellow northerner!!! Having had the opportunity to speak with him after dinner you see his passion and the various influences on his style of food, which have come from his extensive travels. Jane is front of house and was extremely engaging and personable and could not have made us feel more welcome. Definitely going back in July when are next in the area.

I enjoyed my recent visit (the 1st) to the Coleridge restaurant for Sunday lunch. The welcome, service and food were very good.
Jane, who owns and runs the place together with her husband John the chef, was friendly and smiling although training a new member of staff and dealing with quite a lot of tables at the same time. Although the place was busy (with quite a lot of locals), the food came out quickly, it was nice and well presented. I had a 3 course lunch, each course was nice, with locally sourced products.
The restaurant has won several awards over the past few years, and given this 1st good visit, it was easy to understand why.
Keep up the good work Jane and John, and hopefully see you again when I am next in the area.
