We were so impressed with the hotel, the room & views the whole package really. Every thing was great until our 2nd day & last night before the ferry, After our breakfast we toured the remote & rural area's for 3 or 4 hours only having coffee whilst out. On arriving back to the hotel we had some sharing dishes mid afternoon, I had tuna & scallops, my partner has a small bite of my tuna sandwich.
In less than 2 hours I was very sick, during the night I had projectile vomiting & diarrhea & laid out in the bathroom for several hours.

My partner did not feel great during this period but was not ill until some 24 hours later when she was also vomiting.

On our last day we only ate in the hotel so it cant have been elsewhere else. It was a real anticlimax as we loved the hotel and everything about it.

We enjoyed a couple of good coffees...…..after we were treated to a visit to see the lobster "farm" situated below the Hotel Astuy on a visit from its "sister" hotel (Juan de la Cosa). This was an excellent experience if you are lucky enough to ever be included in such a trip

A perfect spot by the shore lines of Cantabriá. Just make sure that you get a exspensive room with the best sea view ever! Fresh and modern Spanish designed rooms but old school service at cafeteria and restaurant. Old humming head waiters and maitre de hotel giving good service.
Poor and really boring amenities for the room standard, really standard stuff! But lots of fresh towels to use. Ok breakfast but nothing exciting, nothing on fridge wish means a sensitive stomach should take it easy with the boiled ham....

Room tip: Room 116 or 117 is good and bright.

We stayed at Hotel Astuy for two nights on our way by car from Madrid to Asturias in May of 2016. The location is literally right on the beach. From our room we had wonderful views of the beaches, the rocks on the coast and the sea stretching out into the far distance. The bed was lovely and the shower was a large area and nicely hot too. Food at the hotel was really good with wonderful choices of sea food. Parking was just a few steps from the hotel main door, not far to roll our cases along the path.

Room tip: We asked for a sea view and the room we were given was great. We didn't need to change rooms.

Perfect location to explore the local beaches - everyone is a winner. From searching for crabs in the huge rock pools to surfing in Noja or paddle boarding on the river this area has got the lot.
The Hotel is easy to get to from both ports and has family rooms which are clean, an OK size and all have sea views. Great seafood restaurant attached to this Hotel and had some superb meals there. Not a huge town and you won't find many English visitors and I would suggest some basic Spanish might be a good thing to have in your group. Overall a nice unspoilt town.

Room tip: All rooms have great sea view
