Me and my husband booked all four villas to accommodate us and our 20 guests for our wedding in October. The whole booking process was completely hassle free and Annita was brilliant...very fast at responding to my emails, very helpful with any questions I had leading up to the holiday, and happily arranged our return taxis to the villas from the airport.

When we arrived at Villa Brio we were thrilled! It is exactly like it is shown on the photos. Every single one of the villas is beautiful, and the views are absolutely amazing!! we were
overwhelmed. The waterfront residence suite was the icing on the cake. Me and my husband stayed here, it was ideal for us as newly weds. It gave us complete privacy. We couldn’t hear any outside noise once in the suite, even when our family and friends were partying above us by the pool. Perfect.

Even though we visited Kefalonia at the end of the season, the local restaurants, shops and patisserie were open and were at most within a comfortable 10 minute walk away from Villa Brio. All serving beautiful food!

Unfortunately, our nightmare began on the second day.

We were unlucky enough to choose a week in October which was forecast rain. We woke up in the morning to find that rain had leaked in to 3 of the villas, which was very dangerous on the marble flooring inside, particularity as a few of our guests were either elderly or young childern (one of our guests slipped inside villa 3 due to the leak, but luckily no major injuries).The leaking in Villa 1 was easily resolved by closing the shutters. Villa 3 however was heavily flooded (on one occasion about 1inch deep), as was the waterfront residence suite, and this couldn’t be resolved as the rain was coming in through the brick work. The worse part for me and my husband personally was that the rain heavily flooded in to our bedroom where all of our wedding items were stored in preparation for our big day… our wedding table decorations, that I’d spent many weeks making, were damaged, as were a number of other items. Luckily my dress wasn’t near by! The flooding happened on a number of days throughout the week in villa 3 and in the waterfront residence suite. The maid was very helpful and attentive, although, to soak up the water she used the towels from our villas which left us none to shower with etc. We know that the leaking could not be resolved quick enough to be fixed during our stay, and we know that leaks aren’t visible until it actually rains, but we were very disappointed at the inconvenience and danger this caused us during our stay, in what should have been complete luxury.

Another quite horrendous issue was Ants. The 1st floor in Villa 3 was riddled with them. They completed covered the kitchen units and were running all over the floor of the kitchen and living room. There were so many of them! Not ideal for cooking and preparing food in the kitchen, or for walking around in living room, especially with children playing on the floors etc. When the maid was advised of the issue, she put some repellent down and told my family to keep it clean and they will go away. Little did she know that she was talking to my mum who is a clean freak and certainly always made sure the villa was clean and that the bins were empted regularly. The villa was infested with them though out their stay.

Just a few other things that disappointed us over the week…
The TV’s did not work - The website advertises that there is satellite in each of the villas, but unfortunately this was not working during our stay (possibly due to weather).
The wifi did not work in any villa other than the waterfront residence suite – this problem was sorted the day before we flew home.
The waterfront residence suite very rarely had hot water – me and husband managed to have 3 (very fast) showers between us over the week. Not ideal when getting ready for our wedding day, and there was no hot water for washing up dishes etc.
The towels were rarely replaced throughout the week across all the villas.
A few of the villas didn’t have hairdryers as advertised.
The cooker in the waterfront residence suite was out of use all week.
A couple of the villas had dinning seating for only 4 guests, although advertised as 6.
The maid mopped all of the villas daily, which was great, but unfortunately didn’t soak up the water used. So, the villas that weren’t already flooded by the rain ended up just as wet and slippy as the ones that were.

For the price we paid for the villas, we didn’t expect to experience any of the above issues. As I mentioned earlier, we know that some of the problems were unavoidable due to the weather, but for the rest of the problems, it felt as though we were given half hearted service in run down accommodation, possibly as it was booked for a week at the end of the holiday season. We cant ignore our disappointment, not when it was booked to accommodate us and our guests for our wedding...we’d been looking forward to it so much.

Despite the problems, we had a wonderful time in the villas and it certainly didn’t ruin our stay. If the issues were fixed, I would absolutely highly recommend that people book a holiday to stay in the villa brio complex, as I have no doubt that in the peak of the holiday season, guests will be blown away by it.

Dear Guests,
Many thanks for your kind words about our Villa Brio complex re the lay-out of the properties, their seafront & private location, proximity to amenities etc.
We truly share the disappointment for the unpleasant fact that you have unluckily experienced the "worst ever weather conditions" occurred throughout our 8 years of operation! So much intense rainfall & stormy weather during 5 consecutive days out of your 7-night stay must have really broken your heart...especially since the preceding & following weeks were full of sunshine with average temperature around 30 C deg! (which is the typically expected October weather on our island).
So, please accept our sincere apologies for having faced the inconveniences mentioned, that were due to such extreme weather conditions and could not be foreseen until actually happened, as you have already fairly stated too.
Given the above, it is the very first time throughout the 8 years of our successful operation that we receive a guests` feed-back with "non up to expectations" evaluation. In their vast majority - no matter the season of their stay with us - past guests describe their holiday experience in our Villa Brio complex as "definitely exceeding their expectations".
Would you please be assured that we have already taken all necessary actions to secure the properties against extreme weather conditions in the future (however, very rare on our island!).
For your full info, technical details follow:
The described leaking through the two specific points out of the entire complex (via the window frames in the kitchen area of Villa 3 and the same in the waterfront bedroom of the Suite) has been already resolved by engineers.
As per Wi-Fi & TV, the storm had damaged local communications network in the area, leaving internet connection & satellite receivers with a "come & go" operation during the week of your stay; of course now the systems are again fully functional after having been fixed by the local telecommunications provider.
Re hot water supply to the Waterfront Residence Suite, we have to admit that indeed a couple of minutes delay is noticed, since the Suite is the most distant unit from the boiler's location in the complex. In order to resolve the issue, we have already ordered for replacement with a hot water circulator of higher capacity to be installed within a couple of weeks.
Re towels, we always keep our standard policy of 2 changes per week, as advertised. Of course, we would be willing to offer more frequent linen/towels change upon our guests` special request.
As per hairdryers, in each one villa - Suite as well - there is always a hairdryer stored in the closet of one of the villa`s bedrooms...so it might be easy to miss it if not checking properly in every bedroom!
Finally, re the cooker in the Suite, it was actually only the oven out of order during your stay, the hobs being fully operational. As explained in the welcome documents upon your arrival, the oven was left damaged by previous guests, so there was not enough time to replace it. We have now received the new oven and already installed it in the Suite.
In general, would you please allow us to say that we are constantly committed to operating our Villa Brio complex at the high standards promised, equally throughout the season - from the earliest booking up to the latest one - aiming to offer our guests the expected luxury during their holiday with us under any condition.
