“Totally relaxing”

We stayed for a week at Villa Alkionis and could have stayed forever ! If you want a relaxing and peaceful piece of paradise you will have found it here. Everything was catered for including wine and food basics on arrival. Philip met us at the airport which was a lovely surprise and even took us back even though we had a hire car, (the road signs are few and far between ) so we never got stressed from beginning to end. The villa is halfway between Skala & Poros so we were never far from some great restaurants. It was just perfect to wake to the sound of the sea and on occasions the sound of the goat bells and they made their way past the villa. The sunrise and sunsets were amazing. We were so impressed that we have booked to go back next year and can't wait !

“1 day in Villa Alkionis = 1 week anywhere else”

Having to decide between spending my money on a week of "normal" vacation or a weekend of luxury I chose the second and I must admit that it turned out to be a wise choice. My stay in Villa Alkyonis, had a very strange effect on me. Each day there feels like a week. For me it was the first time in vacation, that I woke up very early in the morning to enjoy the beautiful sunrise and I wanted to stay in the house all day long. Basically you have no reason to leave the house. All you might need is there for you since everything is very well thought out by the manager.
I can't wait to go back there!

“Villa Alkionis - a Cephalonian treasure (Scandinavian review)”
Reviewed March 6, 2012 for a stay in June 2011

We are a finnish family with 4 teenagers and have been 2 times in Villa Alkionis during our summer holiday.
When we first time saw the photos and description of this villa, we were a little doubting: could all this really be true? But all our doubts died when we started e-mailing with the owner. And luckily so, I have to say : now we have had the opportunity to enjoy this unique villa for 2 times, each with 2 weeks staying.

So what to tell about Villa Alkionis?
First of all - the service: the owner Family is very friendly and helpfull in all matters, and it is easy to be seen that taking good care of the Villa with it's visitors is very important to them.

And about the villa:
if you want a quiet holiday with no neighbours - this is the place.
If you want a lazy holiday - this is the place.
If you want an active holiday - this is the place.
If you want to go out for restaurants and bars and parties - this is the place.
It is so simple - villa Alkionis with it's great location between Poros and Scala suits for all kinds of holidays and all kinds of groups - also for families with children.

For easy holidays you have a full equipped kitchen (owen, micro-oven, coffee cooker, a huge refrigerator/freezer - and a kitchen - with seaview.
For active holidays you have internet (wifi), a big variety of books, music and films and a huge tv in livingroom - with seaview. You also find binoculars and telescope, the binoculars were much used by us.

And outside you will have different kinds of ballgames in the garden (pingpong, darts etx.) - and a beautifull garden - with seaview.
You also have a big great swimming pool with sunbeds and umbrellas - all this - with seaview.
What more could man ask for?

In my case I have to say, that after visiting villa Alkionis for the first time I knew this is the place where I want to visit again.
I just want to experience it all again: to lie on the sunbed and feel the warmth of the sun; to hear the breath of a slight wind whispering in the garden, to see the huge sea cruisers looming on the horizon. And feel the sea - the sea - it is there all over - the whole villa is faced to the sparkling sea; all the rooms have marvellous sea views. This is what makes the whole athmosphere there so special.

Renting car makes easy to explore this beautiful island.
We liked the nearby village Poros, it was more peacefull compared to Scala. And after you have spent the whole warm day in sightseeing there is nothing better than to plop in to calming water of the pool.

But all things have their minus sides too - you have to return home - but you left your sole in Alkionis - and - that's a problem...

“Superb villa + amazing location + friendliest owner = fantastic holiday”
Reviewed January 21, 2012 for a stay in July 2011

Villa Alkionis is modern, stylish, very spacious, comfortable and has everything you could want in a holiday property. But its location is what makes it so special - it is perched above the sea with panoramic views across to the mainland. The huge terrace area (complete with infinity pool, loungers, settees, shaded outside dining area and games) allows you to watch passing ships/boats and wildlife (we saw a turtle but missed the dolphins). Being away from the towns and other buildings it is also very quiet and peaceful (with just the odd goat bells ringing) and a great place to view the star studded night sky and amazing sunrises. However, the towns of Skala and Poros are only a short drive away and have good restaurants. We recommend having a car for such trips and to see the rest of the island.
The owner, Phillip, and his family could not be more welcoming, friendly and helpful. He met us at the airport, had stocked up the fridge for our breakfast, delivered gifts of wine and home made cake during our stay, and dealt immediately with a slight problem with one of the air conditioners.
We will undoubtedly book another holiday at the villa, and bring our friends, once planned developments of a path down to the sea from the terrace and possibly another bedroom are completed.

“Perfection!”
Reviewed January 2, 2012 for a stay in May 2011

I could not ask for more from a holiday home! Villa Alkionis was perfect - with evey home comfort you could imagine and such friendly owners - Phillip and his parenst made us so very at home and helped make our holiday amazing.
The villa is a LONG walk to teh town center so cabs were used every night but we made friends with the cabbies by the end of the stay.
Make sure that you read the guest comments in the guest book for good recomendations of restruants.
The villa and view were incredable and we spotted the dolphins easliy.
I would recomend turning the lights off at night, laying back on the sun beds and enjoying.

Me and my extended family were shocked with teh ownder of Villa Alkionis - and i am not exagerating!!!

“Villa Alkionis is paradise, panoramic sea views, beautiful sunrises, bliss”

My family and I came to stay here in June 2011 and we will be coming back very soon. From the very beginning when I made an equiry about Villa Alkionis Phillip, the owner, was extremely helpful and nothing seemed too much trouble. He even picked us up from the airport so that we only needed to rent a smaller car for day trips as he would be helping us with our luggage. This obviously saved us money on car rental and also we didn't need to worry about trying to find the villa from the airport,

The villa is beautiful and there is everything you could ever need including cds, dvds, internet access, games, etc. The views were outstanding and we often saw the odd turtle swimming by. Some people have said that they saw dolphins too but unfortunately we didn't! You can ring for a taxi from the villa to take you into the centre of Skala for about 3 euros and the first time they came it took a little while for them to find the villa but the second time we rang they knew exactly who we were and a taxi arrived within 5 minutes!

The villa is very clean and you can really tell that this is privately owned i.e. it's a real home from home. On our last day Phillip dropped by to finalised the times to take us back to the airport and he brought us an ice cream cake which was a really sweet touch and very welcome as by then we had eaten up all of our food ready to leave the next day!

I've heard that for 2012 they are thinking of building some steps down to the sea from the Villa along with a wooden decking area for diving and/or fishing. I think this will make a really good addition to the Villa as the sea views looked very inviting from the pool area!

On a couple of occasions we got up early to watch the sun rise which was absolutely beautiful. We just sat there by the pool with a cup of tea and it was definitely worth getting up for.

I cannot recommend this villa enough, Phillip makes you feel very welcome and lets you just relax in peace and enjoy your stay. We will be coming back very soon there is no doubt about it.

“Villa Alkionis is a real jewel in the crown of the Ionian Islands”

Villa Alkionis is situated in a beautiful, private setting down from the Skala to Poros road - with stunning sea views and marvellous outdoor spaces. There are welcome breezes during the afternoon, and plenty of shade as well as ample “bronzing” sun bathing areas!

The accommodation is of an extremely high standard with all the facilities and amenities you could wish for. A lovely infinity pool and plenty of games for the family mean you can relax with lots of fun things to do.

The location suits well for both Skala and Poros (a car is advisable). Skala is a good quality resort town with a full range of places to eat and tourist shopping. Some of the restaurants are really quite excellent for family meals out. Poros is a lovely port town with decent “everyday” shops and an increasingly developed and attractive harbour (with a couple of well-placed and friendly Tavernas). Argostoli, the capital, is worth visiting (about 45 – 60 minutes away by car, on good roads).

Philippos and his family are excellent hosts who have become friends. They take great care to make sure your holiday is relaxing, hassle-free and as peaceful and private as you wish – they’re always available, but never interfering!

For an ‘up-market’ family villa holiday you might struggle to find better in Greece.
We love Kefalonia and have been coming back to Villa Alkionis for years!
