I simply cannot fault this villa - everything about it is brilliant.

The villa itself is ideally situated between Skala and Poros, in its own secluded plot. It's very idyllic to say the least, with the only real noise coming from the main road above the villa, which is minimal.

When we arrived, we were greeted by Phillipos, and shown around the villa. He had kindly provided a welcome basket containing wine and some biscuits, and also stocked the fridge with some beer, juice and cold meats, which was very thoughtful.

All of the outside spaces are well maintained, and offer fantastic views across the sea. There are four main areas -a semi shaded garden area, where you can play boules, the main pool area, a dining area, and an entertainment area where you can play ping pong, darts and giant chess. All of these areas have sun loungers and/or seating so you can relax anywhere you wish.

The infinity swimming pool is slightly on the small side but still big enough for a family of 6 to play and relax in (we managed to fit in two lilos, an inflatable crocodile and a rubber ring into it with bit of space left over to swim).

Inside, the villa itself has been kitted out with almost everything you could possibly need during your stay - there's not many places that can offer this. The wifi was particularly useful!

Downstairs it's open plan with large sliding windows which again offer fantastic views of the sea. The dining and lounge areas are comfortably furnished and are perfect for unwinding at the end of the night.

Upstairs, there are three decent sized, simply furnished bedrooms, all with balconies overlooking the sea. The double bedroom with ensuite is a bit small, but still adequate, and the beds are all comfortable.

All in all this villa made for the perfect base for our holiday, and provided everything we needed during our two week stay.

We've had an absolutely fantastic time at the villa and we will definitely be back.

A place worthy of James Bond: unique location, modern tasteful architecture and an overall ambience of chic. Add to this the endless sky, clear green sea and the sound of waves against the rocks as the last sound before you fall asleep, and you don’t want to leave this place ever.
And if you really must, you can easily get to agile Scala or elegant Poros, or explore thousands of natural and historical treasures that Cephalonia has to offer.

“Scorchio”
Reviewed July 9, 2013 for a stay in June 2013

We had a glorious two weeks at the villa with our family. There were five adults for the first week and five adults plus 4 children for the second week.

From meeting us and escorting us to the villa upon arrival at the airport to the packing up and farewells, Phillip and his family were most helpful and great hosts.

The facilities were superb and the location is great as a base to explore the rest of the island, including the mountain Ainos. The villa is away from all other buildings which makes it very private but does mean you do need a car to get around.

It is possible to descend to the sea below the villa via a rocky path and this is a great place to go snorkelling. The towns of Skala and Poros are just short drives away and they offer great places to eat plus a range of shops.

We have no problem in recommending Kefalonia in general as a magical destination and the Villa Alkionis in particular as an ideal place to stay.

“Amazing villa and location, would be very hard to beat !”

We first stayed at Villa Alkionis in October 2012 and enjoyed ourselves so much that we couldn't wait to return so booked it for the end of April 2013 for a week. We have just returned and are missing it already !!!
Philip and his family who own the villa, are so helpful and accommodating, nothing is too much trouble for them. They are at the end of the phone if you need anything and are full of helpful advice. Philip was even so kind as to transfer us to and from the airport which was a great help when new to the island, and trying to find our way around. A nice touch is the few food items provided for you when you first arrive like eggs, bacon, bread, fruit, cheese, milk etc. and a bottle of wine and confectionary as a welcome gift !
The villa itself is in a great location, it's very private and spacious and has a fantastic view of the sea. The facilities are excellent and there is everything you would need for a perfect holiday, including various games, music, books and dvds to entertain you.
The nearest towns of Skala and Poros are only a short drive away but we do recommend you hire a car if you want to get around the island to see the sites, Assos is a must, one of the prettiest little beaches I have seen.
We would definitley recommend this villa to anyone wanting that little touch of luxury while visiting Kefalonia. We will most certainly be returning again! A big thank you to the Metaxas family for making our stay so special.

“Can't wait to go back there again”

There aren't enough good things I could say about Villa Alkionis and the villa manager Philip Metaxas. We stayed there for 2 nights and we wished we had stayed for much longer (we are definitely going back there again). The villa is well equipped, very clean, modern and at a great location from where one can explore the island. The views from the villa are stunning and the telescope was a nice touch. Cephalonia is a beautiful island and I wish we had followed Philip's suggestion to allocate more days there. We also visited Zante but we were not impressed - we wished we had stayed in Cephalonia longer. Philip was very helpful with suggestions and he far exceeded any expectations of great service by meeting us to guide us to the villa at a location which was 45 minutes away (he could have just given us directions but instead he came to meet us). During our stay he made himself available and he was kind enough to let us check out late in the afternoon. It is an awesome villa with a great manager!

“Piece of Heaven on Earth”

Having found the villa on-line we were unsure that the villa could be as good as it looked, however once there it was not only as good as portrayed but even better.
The villa's location right on the coast gives you a view of the sea that you won't soon forget, the sight of the moon shining onto the sea is an image that will stay with my family and I for a long time.
The standard of accommodation would put many four star hotels to shame, everything you could want and more is right there, including a well stocked and very reasonably priced wine rack.
Local restaurants are within a short five minute drive (car rental an essential), the standard of restaurants was very good and you can find one to suit any taste.
We were fortunate enough to witness dolphins herding fish into a tight group on one evening just a couple of hundred yards from our terrace.
In short if you want a peaceful vacation where you can either sit and enjoy the world going by, or enjoy the local beaches then this is the place for you
Everything from the villa, to the friendliness of the local people and the owner and his family will make you want to come back again and again.
I know we all do.

We stayed for a week at Villa Alkionis and could have stayed forever ! If you want a relaxing and peaceful piece of paradise you will have found it here. Everything was catered for including wine and food basics on arrival. Philip met us at the airport which was a lovely surprise and even took us back even though we had a hire car, (the road signs are few and far between ) so we never got stressed from beginning to end. The villa is halfway between Skala & Poros so we were never far from some great restaurants. It was just perfect to wake to the sound of the sea and on occasions the sound of the goat bells and they made their way past the villa. The sunrise and sunsets were amazing. We were so impressed that we have booked to go back next year and can't wait !
