As the museum is in a former textile mill, it is logical that its main thrust is the production of textile, from the coal for the steam engine through finishing. One sees the machinery used in all phases. Yet, there's more, one being the history of energy. Again accompanied by actual machinery in addition to hands-on demonstrations. Also an excellent exhibit of d'Vinci's mechanical ideas, with his illustrations and wooden models to give reality to them. Really worth a day trip from Barcelona if interested in technology. There is e en mkre than what I touched on.

Lots of interactive fun things to do and touch or play wirh. Especially good for kids and adults with curious minds. Some of the exhibits went in perfect condition or went working correctly, but still entertaining.

This beautiful former textile factory (built in the Modernist style) is well worth a visit for anyone with an interest in fabric, factories and factory workers, or "things Catalan". Terrassa was once a major textile city and had the good sense to work some of the most emblematic structures into the post-industrial cityscape. This is one of the great examples of that preservation effort. Tired of the tourist crowds in Barcelona (now swamped with cruise travelers)?? Try a 50-minute train ride to Terrassa (either RENFE or FFCC will get you there, but the FFCC station is closer to the heart of the city, tourist info, etc.)... Nice restaurant, too.

We visited the museum on a Sunday afternoon (first Sunday of the month is free) and were surprised at how big it was. There was a special exhibition on nanotechnology and another one on computers and all information was available in English.

What we really enjoyed was entering the big chimeney, and seeing all the old machinery used back in the days when Terrassa had a huge textile industry.
