Lovely , charming place to stay. Very quirky but clean, warm and very friendly owners who made us feel very welcome. Breakfast was good, lovely outside patio area to sit, have a beer and enjoy the sunshine. Wouldn't hesitate to stay again

Like a previous reviewer this was chosen based on reviews on TA. We were met by owner with a friendly welcome and shown large room overlooking river. It wasn't until we returned to the room later that we discovered the cold feeling in the room came from a large damp area on the wall. Raised concern with owner next morning but she merely shrugged and informed me it was 'water'. It had made for an uncomfortable night and led us to question other areas relating to health and safety, such as getting out of the hotel when the downstairs door is locked and the room is effectively one floor above the road below. Owners appeared to leave hotel during meal service so we were unable to raise concerns that night. Food was good and outside eating area pleasant but again showed signs of being unkempt. Got the feeling this hotel may be overwhelming the staff which is a shame as it could be fabulous given its location and quirky style.

Room Tip: Check room for damp first!

This was a disappointing location, chosen with care having read previous reviews.
The previous people either "loved" the place or found it below average. It was easy to find and park nearby but after a day on the road, we were not offered a cold drink on arrival. The room was OK but the bathroom had various issues with broken fittings, etc. The towels were of poor quality and mismatched. Whilst we are sure the owner is charming, the food did not live up to our expectations of "gourmet" menu. It took ages to come and the "Tagine" was just barely cooked chicked with a watery sauce, not the slow cooked North African dish we expected. We reviewed the photos on the website and could just about recognise the place but the whole presentation was a bit "tired" and sad. We won't be returning.

I spent a week there Mid-February with my family, and we felt at home in this charming place. 17th century atmosphere! Overlooking the "Creuse"river, our bedroom was next to the living room, so sometime a bit noisy, but we enjoyed the large bathroom, and the bed was very comfortable. Excellent breakfast, good value for money evening meals (superb "couscous" and "tagines") Very nice and accommodating owners, who will look after all your needs.
Ideally situated

Room Tip: Room 2 overlooking the Creuse river, and for the kids a double room with 2 large beds
