We booked this apartment only a couple of weeks beforehand. It is a lovely small apartment for two. The place has been very beautifully restored and has everything you might need for a self-catering break, The grounds of the castle, amd the small village are perfect for a quiet relaxing break. If you want to explore the Casentino and beyond there are lots of places within easy reach: Florence, Arezzo, Poppi, Sansepolco and Stia, mfor example. There is also great walking in the woods around.
Federica, the manager of the cottages, was very helpful. Breakfast for the first morning was provided which is a nice touch when you've driven a long way, and we were given a personal tour of the castle, where Dante had stayed during his exile from Florence, which was restored by the current owner's parents in the 1960s/70s very beautifully.
I would certainly recommend this place.

Porciano and the Casentino Valley are simply wonderful. I love exploring this unspoiled area of Tuscany. The views from Casa Scaletta on the grounds of Castello di Porciano were stunning - I was especially entranced by the view of the valley at sunrise, with Castello dei Conti Guidi – Poppi 'floating' in the mist. The cottage itself is roomy and comfortable and has everything one would need for a short or long stay.
