“2 weeks in Paradise”
Reviewed 22 February 2012

I have just returned to the cold blow of England from a wonderful 2 weeks in Sol Caribe under the so so appreciated care of Yvonne and Mauricio........ Sol Caribe is a small cluster of beautifully cared for rooms under the bluest of skies in the Sian Ka'an. Each room is spacious and the beds are soooo comfortable. Linen, towels and even beach towels changed regularly. Showers with good pressure, and always hot (we took over all 8 rooms, and we never ran out of hot water :)). We felt the staff were exceptional in their care of us - the food was fantastic and Mauricio offered alternatives whenever needed effortlessly, nothing was too much trouble. Yvonne went above and beyond to organise boat trips for us, coordinating a group of 20 people is not always easy, and she was professional and so efficient, again it felt nothing was too much trouble. We got to know the staff very well in the 2 weeks, and I for one will take a spanish dictionary with me next time! I would not hesitate to recommend Sol Caribe to all my family and friends, and hope to return one day.

Room Tip: All the rooms are spacious and have sea views. The Jungle cabanas are set back a little, but are eve...

Sol Caribe is as good as it gets for anyone who wants a quiet, beautiful vacation where you are well-cared for, well-fed, and have all you need to unwind and enjoy the natural beauty of this part of Mexico.
The location is remote, yet all the amenities you need are there, with attention from the amazing Yvonne and Mauricio along with their outstanding, attentive and kind staff.
Mauricio is a fabulous chef, Yvonne a wonderful manager. You will be well cared for and you can count on Yvonne to set up whatever arrangements you would like for touring. Boat trips, kayaks, massage, visits to temples and more. Mauricio is very accommodating with food preparation and everything he prepares is fresh and delicious. The sleeping rooms are immaculate, and there are really soft towels, smooth sheets and good beds for sleeping.
I can't imagine a better place to be for a beach vacation.
I can't wait to go back.

Room Tip: all of the rooms are beautiful. the jungle cabana is very large and has great ventilation, as does...

With beautiful white sand, I didn't wear shoes for a week! The beach was 50 feet away! The food and service made me feel like a beloved queen. The proprieters and staff are gracious, knew us by name and always answered yes to any request! The food and service are superb and we felt like family. They can make any arrangements to see this enchanting part of Mexico that is pretty untouched by commercialism. It's the best!

Room Tip: The second floor cabanas have vaulted ceilings that are quite spectacular.

Perfect: the rooms are very big and very stylish. Ivonne and Mauricio are wonderful hosts. And Mauricio strives to provide tasty new meals every day. Sol Caribe is very isolated, so if you want to escape from mass tourism, then this is a right place. There is only one negative side. Namely the amount of garbage brought by the sea to the shore. Every hour or so a new item will land on the beach. Although the part of the Sol Caribe beach is clean.

Stayed for 12 magical nights at this pristine and remote beach setting. If you want to be "...far from the madding crowd..." of large-scale, high-energy, crowd-jostling, Cancun-style mega resorts, then come to Sol Caribe, where Mauricio, Yvonne, and their most wonderful staff will give you their full attention, while also making sure to be out of your way. When not at the sheer peaceful beauty of this wonderful place, they will arrange for snorkeling trips, boat trips to see dolphins up close, wild boat rides through mangroves to see Mayan temples and exotic birds, some of the best massages ever, and peaceful time on empty beaches. The food is spectacular. If you want TV, movies, and nightly entertainment shows with fire dancers, this is not the setting for you. But if you want tranquility, beauty, and unparalleled caring service, come and spend some time with Yvonne, Mauricio, and their delightful staff in paradise.

This is a beautiful, remote, idyllic slice of paradise. Need to check out from it all, this is the place! No TV, no phone, Internet is available but doesn't work unless you go to the office. Do some fishing, take an Eco tour (you are marooned in ankle deep turquoise water to take a romantic stroll island to island, ask for Augustine). The walks along the beach reveal many treasures. Kayaks are great for a trip lagoon side. The little town is quaint with lovely people and some great little shanty's for fresh food and cold beer. The hosts of Sol Caribe are very nice and help with anything. Yvonne will help you find anything you want to do or see and Mauricio will cook up delicious meals but it is always better when he prepares your own catch!
One warning, the hosts live there and have 2 small children so if you are looking for adult only, be prepared there are young ones around.

Dear Baxterbeach,
Thank you very much for your positive response to Sol Caribe and for posting this favorable review. We are delighted that you enjoyed your vacation and hope to see you again soon. However, we were dismayed to find that the photos you posted were not actually of Sol Caribe, but some other place you had stayed on your trip, which you must have got mixed up with the actual photos you took of Sol Caribe. You can see that they clearly differ from all the other guests' photos of Sol Caribe. So, we would be grateful if you could remove them as they were not taken at Sol Caribe. Thank you,

We have just come back from a two absolutely lovely weeks at Sol Caribe. The hotel was brilliant, there were 8 of us (2 families) so we had the beach cabana, both floors of the jungle cabana and one of the loft cabanas, all the rooms were beautiful. The beds were large and very comfortable, the rooms were cleaned every day and a ceiling fan and shutter windows with mosquito nets kept the rooms cool in the evening.
The food was absolutely brilliant, lovely fresh fruit in the mornings, eggs and homemade bread. Nachos, fajitas, guacamole, homemade pasta, and salad went down very well for lunch and fresh fish, steak, lobster followed by chocolate crepes topped it all off. Big thank you to Mauricio and his team. The all inclusive option includes branded spirits and wine which was also great and franklin the bar man did a very good job making cocktail after cocktail for us. Sitting on the deck over looking the ocean with a nice drink in the evening was just lovely. Mauricio and his team even produced birthday cakes on 2 occasions for our birthday boy and girl.
Yvonne was great and organised some trips for us, the boys went fishing a few times and the girls went on a boat trip up the lagoon with a little bit of not so serious fishing involved! We also did a trip to the ruins, good for those that like to see some culture!! Yvonne organised our transfers from the airport which was very nice to have someone picking us up after a long flight, and yes you do have to go down w very bumpy track for about 1.5-2 hours from tulum through the reserve to the hotel but it is totally worth it. Just a word of warning for when you reach the arch entrance to the Si'an Kazan reserve. We had to pay 25 pesos each per day up front to the man standing at the arch. Our total came to 2400 pesos so have cash on you. We didn't know about this in advance.
The location is beautiful, not much around apart from the small village of punta Allen up the road. The beach is gorgeous and is cleaned every day from seaweed. There are plenty of single and double sunbeds and lots of hammocks for that afternoon nap! There is wifi at the hotel but no mobile signal. Perfect for me, could escape from work with my phone switched off!!
If you want to to go and truly relax, eat good food and chill out then you will love it.  If you want to go fishing, visit the Mayan ruins and see the beach you will also love it! Highly recommended from all our party, Aged 14 to adults.
All the staff were fantastic. Mauricio took one of our boys out spear fishing a few times and when we caught fish on our trips the kitchen Staff would gut them and cook them for our supper.
Thanks Yvonne and Mauricio and hope to see you soon,
The Hiltons and Perrys.

Room Tip: All the rooms are great!!
