We have just had a very enjoyable three night stay at the Golden Fleece. The set up here is quite unusual as all 5 rooms are self-contained in a modern single storey block just at the back of the pub. We were in Room 5, which has the added advantage of an adapted bathroom for those who are less able. The bedroom was spacious and comfortable, with a Queen size bed. Tea, coffee, biscuits and bottled water are provided.
The location is blissfully peaceful and it was lovely to be able to come and go as we pleased.
We were exploring the local area and did quite a bit of walking; I really enjoyed on return each day being able to enjoy the added benefit of a soak in the corner bath. (Room 5 is the only room with a bath)
We ate in the pub in the evenings, and the food is excellent. The restaurant is more like a dining room with a bar; it has a friendly feel and is popular – booking is advisable at the weekend.
The reasonably priced evening menu is short and for us, that is a good sign – so many restaurants offer too many things done badly and this is not the case here – there are fewer dishes which are cooked very well indeed. The highlight was the lovely Sunday roast and home-made desserts. Not good for the waistline!
Breakfast is also very good with the usual choices from cereal to fruit to full English options. There is a vegetarian option.
Behind the pub is a gated field with power supply and the pub offer a separate shower/toilet for campers. I can see the appeal of hooking up a caravan here and taking a night off from cooking to eat in the pub, the best of both worlds!
Carol and Paul and the staff who run the pub are friendly and welcoming. Carol is an excellent cook; everyone seems keen to ensure that your stay is as enjoyable as possible. There is nothing about the place to dislike and we would return without hesitation.

Room Tip: Room 5 has corner bath and large adapted bathroom

We attended an event in Bridport and at late notice this was the only accommodation near by. We were pleasantly surprised to find a 'hotel style' room inside a nicely refurbished outbuilding. The room was great with a decent bed and a great ensuite. We had a pleasant meal in the pub in the evening and a great full English the next morning. They accommodated my gluten free requirements very well. Overall a great place to stay some way off the main tourist routes and attractions, but worth it.

Great find this B&B, second time we have stayed there. Good quiet location, clean and smart. Self contained which means you can come and go as you wish. Breakfast superb and if you choose to eat an evening meal in the pub you will not be disappointed! Downside, wifi in rooms very limited.

Room Tip: Large disabled room available if it is needed.

Great place to stay. Visiting our son who lives nearby & were just staying one night. We were made to feel very welcome. Lovely rooms, they were like little cottages & breakfast was yummy. Nothing was too much trouble. Will visit again soon!

Slightly disappointed with our first meal out elsewhere in Tatworth, we noted that comments from other previous occupants of our holiday cottage suggested that The Golden Fleece was the better place to dine.
Not wrong! We enjoyed large, beautifully cooked portions of tastey food served by extremely friendly and attentive staff.
The dining area itself might be considered to be a bit dated, even old fashioned. However it was clean and homely and the meal itself of good quality.
