“Sunrise Beach Hotel”
Reviewed 1 November 2011

This was one of the best hotels we have stayed in and we have stayed in some good ones all over the world. We have stayed in several in Cyprus over the years but this is certainly the best. From the first moment we arrived the staff were there to help and anticipate your needs. The luggage was taken to the room straight away. The room was fabulous with stylish furniture. It was very clean and we had fresh towels twice each day. The maids were friendly and polite and helpful. I couldn't work out how the shower worked and was shown straight away. we felt at home and as though we had stayed many times before we were made so welcome. The food was excellent with lots of choice and sitting eating on the beautiful terrace was heaven. The pool was well run and I enjoyed some basic Greek lessons from the lovely lady in the little shop next to it. The week went by too quickly and we can't wait to return. Thank you Sunrise Beach and all your staff.

Room Tip: We had a corner room which was really lovely with two balconies catching the sun all day.

We stayed at the Sunrise Beach for 2 weeks, and had our wedding there. The rooms and communal areas are spotlessly clean and the facilities are great but the thing that really stands out about this hotel is the staff. Every person we encountered during our stay was friendly, helpful and cheerful. The ladies on reception were particularly lovely with our 2 year old daughter who must have felt like she had a fan club. Although our daughter didn't go to any activities during the day, the kids entertainment staff still knew her name and greeted her every time they saw her.

Denise, the Wedding Coordinator for the hotel, did a fantastic job of organising everything for our wedding day and made us feel really special despite the fact that other weddings were happening that week.

We only had breakfast and the odd meal at the hotel but what we did have was delicious. If I had to find fault with something I suppose the drinks in the Othello bar are a little pricey (well, more than a little) but it's a lovely setting and sometimes you just have to treat yourself.

A fantastic experience. Would definitely stay at this hotel if we visited Protaras again and would recommend to anyone.

Room Tip: We initially had a side sea view room, which was lovely but after our wedding we were upgraded to a...

We booked this hotel mainly based upon the reviews on this site and can confirm that they are largely accurate. The hotel is very nice, and the staff are well above average, particularly in the restaurants and housekeeping. The food is also well above the norm for this kind of venue. We stayed for a week half board and dined twice in the Reef Bar and Grill, All meals were good and we didn't tire of the choice at all. Drinks were clearly more expensive than the local bars but no prohibitively so.

The facilities are good. The indoor pool is warm and was popular with our daughter. The area around the pools were slippy and we witnessed a nasty accident around the indoor pool when a child slipped and badly cut their head. The outdoor pool was too cold for most, which was a shame as it looked inviting but stood empty. The allocated sun beds made a big difference and we would miss this now staying elsewhere. The entertainment is average. The evenings were the usual magic, parrot shows, bingo etc and kids disco. The kids reps were good people and my daughter really took to them. The rooms are no more than average (side sea view) but comfortable enough and our maid was a lovely woman who probably did more than anyone to make us want to return. There was noise from the pubs in the area in the evenings but is was not enough to make us complain or seek a move. I actually quite liked it.

The area around the hotel was okay and we went on a few good walks. The new hotel being built next door doesn't help but what can they do? The sea front pathway is about half complete so I'd guess it will be a nice stroll next summer. Fig Tree Bay is a 5 minute walk away and lovely but was very busy. The beach in front of the hotel was almost as nice and more peaceful.

This was our third time in Cyprus and I think I'd not want to go back to a different hotel now. That's a major compliment because I've never stayed in the same place twice. It isn't 5 star and it isn't perfect by any means but they get more than enough right to really make your holiday an relaxing and pampered experience. Many thanks to them and we hope to see you again sometime.

Just back after two weeks at the Sunrise (Third visit this year). As other reviewers have said, the staff are the reason this is the best hotel in the area. Nothing is too much trouble for them. As regular visitors we are always welcomed like old friends. Our thanks to Tasos, Yannis (beach bar), Neo and all the others too numerous to mention for making our holiday enjoyable.

The heading says it all and it's difficult to add to what other people have already said. The hotal was superb. The facilities were clean and well maintained. All the staff were friendly, polite and helpful; nothing was too much trouble for them. A special thanks to Maria on the front desk for her cheerful assistance. My wife and I were on our honeymoon and it was lovely to be greeted with a warm welcome at the hotel plus champagne, fruit and flowers in our room courtesy of the hotel! We also were given a room upgrade after our first night so we had the following nine nights with a wonderful view of the sea.

So many people have mentioned the allocation of sunbeds which I would also say is a great idea. I'm sure the only person who doesn't think so is the poor guy who has to keep a track on where everyone has their sun beds! We were positioned in the small gardens and we asked for beds by the pool and he tracked us down the following day when beds became available. By then, we actually liked our spot and decided to stay put. The conclusion here being that there are NO bad spots. The sunbeds are all in lovely places.

I know people have mentioned the noise from the bars. This is nothing to do with the hotel and nothing that earplugs couldn't fix! Won't say more except to say that yes, the bars are loud, but this is not the fault of the hotel.

We stayed on a B&B basis. Breakfast was lovely and plentiful whatever time we went to breakfast. We ate a couple of nights at the hotel and the food was fantastic. There are so many fantastic places to eat, most of the ones we went to had been recommended by people staying there. Il Bascilica and Erato are two restaurants right near the hotel. One Italian and one Greek restaurant. Both fantastic. Erato restaurant on the main strip does wonderful steak. If you are on a budget even the bars like Cheers, Fools and Horses and Loveboat all do excellent bar food and there's plenty of it. Yes, you can tell from the names of the bars that it is a little bit 'English' on the main strip, but don't let that put you off!

We did a couple of trips. The jeep safari was excellent. Not a cheap trip but worth every penny. The jeeps go to places coaches can't get to so you see some wonderful sights. The driving through the dirt tracks on the moutains can be a bit hairy but I loved it! As you only go in a small group, it's a really friendly, fun day out...plus there's wine tasting in there too!

We did the lazy day cruise which was also excellent. A leisurely cruise with two stops for swimming. Only tip here is to not bother waiting for the ladders to be lowered at the rear of the boat...just jump off the side of the boat...and preferably off the top deck!!!

The hotel is positioned on a fantastic part of the beach. The sea is gorgeous and clean and there are lots of water sports. If you are a bit of an adrenaline junky, then the 'fly fishing' ride is the one for you...but do hold on!!!

All in all, a fantastic holiday, a superb hotel with wonderful food and facilities. Last little thing...the name of the hotel...DO try and get up early at least one morning to see the sun rise up over the sea on the horizon...you will NOT be disappointed...an absolutely stunning view!

Room Tip: If you are a light sleeper it would be wise to take earplugs, Upgrading to a room with a full/side s...

I have just returned from a week at Sunrise Beach hotel and what a lovely hotel. The staff are the best I have ever encountered and could not do enough for us. I had gone with my sister and my friend and we all agreed that it was lovely. We had to change rooms after the first night, as it was too noisy, this was no problem at all and the staff were very obliging. I have travelled a fair few times and this is by far the best service I have ever received anywhere. Nothing was too much trouble. I can't remember all the names but everyone who works at Sunrise Beach should be commended on their hard work. The breakfast is by far the best I have ever had and the choice was amazing. I am missing the breakfast so much!!!!

I am definitely planning a return to Sunrise Beach and it will be in April 2012. I cannot wait to return!!!!

Thankyou to everyone at Sunrise Beach!!! Looking forward to seeing you all again next year.

The Marles family from room 327 October 16th to 23rd.

Room Tip: Definitely choose a room with a sea view, well worth it.

Our first trip to Cyprus & we couldn't have picked a better Hotel. The staff were very friendly, service was fantastic & nothing was too much trouble. Ajith the chef was fully understanding of my gluten-free diet and produced some wonderful meals. This is an excellent Hotel for anyone with Coeliac Disease, as well as those on normal diets as the choice of food is fantastic. Our room was lovely, perfectly clean and with a side view overlooking the beach we couldn't have wished for more. Really can't recommend this hotel highly enough!

Room Tip: If possible try to get one with seaview to make the most of your holiday.
