“On a nice street close to downtown shops and restaurants on or near the Square.”

I rented this house (terrace) from Sept. 4 to 25, 2016. It is not a large premise but well-equipped for the most part. There was a toaster, kettle, microwave, gas hob/oven, combination clothes washer/tumble dryer and refrigerator in the kitchen. Since it was a bit cool some evenings, we turned on the heat (boiler). There were only two of us, me and my adult son so I used the double bedroom room on the upper floor and my son used the one in the loft upstairs. There was also a nice bedroom fitted out for a child. The duvets were cosy! The lounge had a couch and a large armchair in it - just right to watch TV in the evenings. At one side was a small dinner table which was fine for the two of us. There was a bathroom with a a bath/shower, towel dryer, sink and toilet. There was a little back yard with deck chairs in it. There was no washing line out there so I rigged a line with some coated wire I found out there just to hang out a few small items to dry. The stairs from the kitchen to the next floor were very steep and the treads were narrow. There was a handrail which I used as I am 72 and have stiff knees sometimes. Younger people would not mind that. My son thought they were fine. All in all, the house was close to the relatives' houses so we could walk there. It was also within easy walking distance to some good pubs too.

Liked best: Very comfortable lounge to watch TV or read
Liked least: Steep stairs and the caulking around the bath allowed water to come through the kitchen ceiling sometimes after someone showered.

“Very chilled ambiance”
Reviewed 7 May 2016 for a stay in April 2016

I think the first thing you notice is how very quiet it is, which was a lovely surprise - there's no road noise, no industry noise and frankly, not much 'people noise'.
This traditional Northern terrace is very comfortable and interestingly tasteful, we loved the original artwork, which adorns the walls, I especially liked the hare in the living room.

Comfy seating, great coal effect gas fire, warm and beautiful, I want it myself! Well equipped, clean kitchen, relaxing bedroom...everything was so nice.

From booking, through arrival (there's a key safe which I love), to leaving at 11am, there is a laid back feeling to the way the owner handles everything.

We spent one afternoon in Boundary Mill and one afternoon at Bolton Abbey but the rest of the time we just chilled in the cottage and had a peaceful stay.
(just one thing, we couldn't get the DVD to work and the TV wasn't modern enough to allow Netflix use - perhaps this could all be updated?) Fast and stable Wifi though, which was a bonus.

Thanks for the generous and yummy welcome pack and for a very nice Bank Holiday Break.
