Buttermere is such a beautiful Lake surrounded by stunning scenery. It is quiet and peaceful whichever point along its banks you are walking in. There are also walks for any level of walker which makes it an ideal area to visit.

Buttermere is a beautiful place.
It’s just a shame that on these fells the National Trust still allow the Melbreak Foxhounds to hunt even though it’s against the law.
So if you are lucky ,you can still witness a fox being ripped to pieces by a pack of local Foxhounds, a barbaric ritual that still goes on in this area.

The Village and lake are stunning, it was very busy with walkers when we visited. The Lakeshore walk took us about a couple of hours, but it was an easy and beautiful walk.

On a bleak day ranging from high winds to a blizzard to a clear blue sky . A thoroughly enjoyable walk with awesome icy vistas. Finishing the visit at the cafe with soup and hot chocolate super easy walk
