I love hot springs and i LOVE them free cause basically they belong to all of us ( like the sea and the beach) Been here in June 2014 ..a bit hot but this hot spring is situated inside a woods so there is a natural shelter from the direct sun !!
There are several kind of " natural pools " good for all kind of people(young old ) !it's very easy to get there.. from the road follow all signs to BAGNI SAN FILIPPO and once in the little village is very easy to find a way to the springs ( from road to pools it takes 5 minutes walking)!
i suggest 2 hours bathing into the warm water , relax and enjoy the scenario!!

We had already visited the place and had seen people bathing so thought we would give it a try. The place is beautiful with lots of small pools of warm water and little waterfalls. It was so pleasant to just sit in the warm pool and let the waterfalls massage away all aches pains and worries. We went quite early on a Saturday morning and the outside air was still coldish as the sun hadn't fully heated the air, which made being covered by water all the more glorious. Unfortunately as it's completely free, there are no facilities so you have to wait till you get back to your hotel for a shower etc and the "changing room" is behind the nearest tree! However, well worth a visit!

Excellent choice during the colder months. I visited a paid therme before, but the water was just 30C, and after a while, not as pleasant as it should. We searched for other places, and found this gem. At the base of the main limestone, the water is around 30C, but if you climb it, you can find some natural small pools, and the water is closer to 40C. Amazing! Soaking, in the middle of the woods. So much better in this natural spot, rather than some crowded pools. Only downside is no fresh water shower afterwards...

We got there at the recommendation of our cooking lesson hosts at Il Rigo B&B (another review). You will need to park your car on the street and walk a bit to get there. We visited on a Friday afternoon late in September so the place wasn't crowded, but I imagine that it could get busy during summer. There is no fee and hence no facilities, so bring a towel and whatever you think you will need.
The place is beautiful with many small pools of hot water (really hot). We just got to one of them and sat in the water for a while and enjoyed this amazing place. Highly recommended!

Baths of San Filippo are a pleasure for the body and soul. The place is not far from Chianciano and Montepulciuano, it is in via del Bollore and is free of any charge, founded hundreds of years ago, has been there from the Romans period. The highest point starts with very warm pool, the water is cooling as it descends , and it is pleasant to sit and feel the water flow between your feet. The minerals and sulfur smells bad but nevertheless I would not give up the pleasure, take an old swimsuit as that smell does not go so easy away.
