Despite the fact Tina seemed nice, we advice to look for another place if you want to enjoy your stay!! I explain:

- 10000F for a simple room with shared toilets/bathroom and no wifi you could think it's expensive but still reasonable for Bora..

- when you add really poor services and no information what so ever (Tina disappeared after 5min top and we had to ask for information at another hotel for a simple phone number) it starts to be expensive

- and you get robbed 35000F in your room while you are sleeping!! and they tell you it's your fault, i call it a scam!!

Just don't go there...

This property is an average guesthouse located on the end of Matira Point, with beautiful views. The owners live in a house adjacent to the property. Tina is the primary go-to person who runs the pension. If you make arrangements in advance she will arrange airport or harbor transfers--if arriving by air take the free boat shuttle in to town and your ride will be there. Returning to the airport, talk to Tina a day or so before your flight as she will have the latest airport ferry schedule and arrange to get you to the appropriate ferry departure. The village of Matira is a long-ish walk and has small markets and restaurants as well as car and bike rental. It is about 7 kilometers in to the main town of Vaitape which has all services, an Air Tahiti office, shopping, ATMs, etc. Theoretically there is wifi but I could not get the prepaid card service to work at all (Tina immediately refunded my wifi card fee when it did not work but could only suggest going to the nearby Intercontinental for internet. I could not get wifi there either unless I was a guest.) Probably plan on not having internet access while you are staying here, so just assume you will need to go to one of the restaurants around the island with wifi to use the internet. The kitchen is OK, with a dining table and a limited range of utensils and so forth. There is a gas stove you will need matches or a lighter to use, and a clean refrigerator. I stayed in a less expensive room upstairs. It had a fan, a nice balcony, a rather hard bed and a table with a lamp. The shared bathroom and shower were fine. Parking for a car or even for a bike is very tight. Check with Tina for parking if you have a rental. The garden and grounds were pleasant and sunrises and sunsets were both nice from the point. You can swim right off the property but there is a strong current so swimming is a lot better from the public park down the road. Breakfast seemed OK but was rather pricey so I just bought groceries at the supermarket and used the kitchen and the picnic table by the beach. Overall one of the few budget options on Bora Bora. If you have considerable advance time to plan you can find individual rental and B&B properties on Bora Bora that are better value.

Room Tip: More costly rooms have slightly better views but the best views are from the public areas.

Yes, it's on Matira Point whic, having cycled the island, is the best location. My room had fabulous views, even though it rained solidly which is by no means their fault, the view was still beautiful. Shops, a couple of restaurants, bike hire are just 5 mins walk away and it's true, I did have a better view than the adjacent Intercon-definitely more so than some of their water bungalows. BUT, although this place is significantly cheaper than anywhere else, it is sadly way overpriced. I have been staying in hostels for 7 months and have done a lot of travelling over 20 years and I would put this in the mediocre hostel range. The kitchen facilities weren't great, the bathrooms weren't cleaned in the 4 days I was there and it's just run down. It's undoubtedly a gold mine of a site and was lovely 20 years ago but, it needs a refurb. I'm not being picky, I've stayed in total flea pits and it doesn't bother me. But, for the money you pay, despite being 'cheap' on Bora, it needs a lot of attention. Like a previous reviewer has put, it needs to offer something else too. Breakfast included, leis on arrival, wifi...

Chez Robert et Tina got the best view even better that the Inter-Continental next door!
The owner Tina and Robert speak French only, however their daughter-Tina could speak English, which helped a lot! They were very kind, always care about your stay, also would like to book any tour for you if you need. We booked the room on the second floor with ocean view, which was fantastic! Highly recommend!! The kitchen was equipped with facilities, the store was outside 20 min by walk, you can buy food to cook. If you like to swim or snorkel, the beach was just in front, you can enjoy whenever you like.

Room Tip: 2nd floor ocean view worth it!

We stayed 2 nights in this family owned pension and apart from the location and the price, the rest is quite average.

Let's start with the positive: the location ! The pension is located on the Pointe de Matira, with the only natural beach nearby. We were told that the sand from the other Bora beaches was actually added by the hotels and the only naturally sanded beach, is the one in the Pointe de Matira area. Our room has a partial view of the beautiful lagoon which we could not get enough from. Amenities, restaurants and grocery shops are only 5 minutes away by foot which is perfect as apart from breakfast, there was nothing else available in the pension.
The price is very affordable in light of the luxury feeling and atmosphere of the village.

But the room we got was very very basic, too minimalistic. We shared the bathroom/kitchen with another family which is OK for the price. But my biggest concern was the absence of mosquitoe nets from the windows ! The room was hot and there is no AC so we had no option than to keep the windows open. It goes without saying that the mosquitoes had a feast - the most poisonous repelants did not work and my daughther suffered from terrible allergies because of that.

The breakfast is very good and varies with local fruits and pastries but we had to clean the table and wash the dishes afterwards. The room where we had breakfast was otherwise closed the whole day so we did not have a spot where to sit and just enjoy ourselves but in our balcony.

The welcome is OK and Tina is very helpful but don't expect a flower necklace as it is customeray everywhere else in Polynesia. Plus we were left waiting on the deck for a long moment before we could reach the hotel.

All in all, we enjoyed Bora thanks to the great lagoon tour we booked, the gorgeous blue all around and the overall feeling of being in one of the most beautiful islands in the world but I think "Chez Robert et Tina" could make an effort in incorporating more of the island's beauty within their pension.

My wife and I stayed at Robert & Tina's for 3 days in July 18-20, 2014. We absolutely loved our stay. We were walking distance to a market, restaurants, excursions, and best of all, from our upstairs room we could chuck a rock into the south seas beach just 30 feet from our balcony. The locals are friendly and met several who spoke English. We cooked most of our meals in the down stairs kitchenette. For the price it couldn't be beat anywhere: $100 per night. Only vacation that when we departed we both said we would return and soon. Ruben & Martha

Excellent location, the big hotels must be eager to lay their hands on this location. Amazing view from the rooms. Pension located right by the water. Shop close to the pension and next door is beach matira. Note however, no ac and no wifi. No equipment for hire from the pension.
