I visited the Cinnamon Hakuraa Huraa to celebrate my 'significant birthday' recently.
A lovely resort, a bit tired, but due to close this month for two years to undergo total refurbishment.
We had a lovely time, the staff are wonderful, attentive & professional, especially the Maldivian & Sri Lankan nationals.
The only downside to this Island is that it is tidal, with only one usable high tide per day, so in order to swim or snorkel outwith the two scheduled boat trips you have to walk 200-300 yards across broken dead coral to reach water, currently there is no pool, so cooling down with a swim is also impossible. My point is that even after extensive refurbishments there will always be this problem, as this island will always suffer from high & low tides.
Also because of the tides, lots of debris gets washed in to shore, plastic bottles, detritus, & even a 3foot long fluorescent tube ! I had to suggest to reception that it was very poor, & should be a daily check by staff, & cleared up before guests start to use the beach. It was promptly done, however it should not be left to guests to initiate this.
Overall a very enjoyable holiday, & it will be stunning when refurbished, however please consider the tidal nature of the area.More
