this bed and breakfast is simply lovely, the rooms are very confortable, good bathrooms, the pool and the trees around are wonderfully refreshing after a long day in Durban or on a hot beach, the owners are very friendly and give very good recommendations. Their French toast for breakfast was delicious.

Great stop over place with good facilities. Quaint ambience, nestled neatly in the bush and not too far from the main highway and extremely close to the beach. Ian went beyond the standard which improved the quality of our stay. Definitely recommended for passing through couples.

We had a lovely stay at the Saffron House last week. We pretty much had to run in and out between meetings, but the evening's sleep was very peaceful in the rooms and the hosts really have gone through a lot of trouble to make us feel at home. Will recommend to anyone!!

Very spacious room with a good bed & a small couch. Flowery decor (à la grandma's teacups). We had a room immediately right to the entrance, view on the pool. No noise from other guests whatsoever. Good free wifi in the room.
Host Ian is professional, he may not show his empathy in a way or at moments one might expect: he felt he does care about his guests! We had an unfortunate experience during an excursion which we booked based on a flyer displayed in his lounge; seawater destroyed most of my husband's (expensive) camera equipment. Upon our return at the B&B, when we told Ian what happened, he just dryly looked at us and summarised: "so you want me to indicate a good camerashop in Durban"? At that moment we did not feel particularly cared about; but after that we learnt that Ian -at his own initiative- contacted the boatsman as well as our travel agent, giving us an account about what he learnt. We appreciated that.

I have been returning to The Saffron House for 5 years now. Ian's place still stays a gem and his hospitality is great, always up for a chat and loves to socialise with his guests. Stays good value for money and his breakfasts are always well prepared and weather permitting you can breakfast on the patio, its just lovely. Thanks Ian for another great overnight. Wish I could have stayed longer. Next time we must have a drink at your bar on the patio!

Room Tip: Ask for the rooms by the pool. There are only 2! They are super private, and I fancy the shower in the one on the left!
