Lovely Victorian building in beautiful grounds and very close to Masham centre.However..the inside of the building leaves a lot to be desired..very dated and tired looking..all kitchen appliances and utensils very old and grubby and need replacing..on arrival the apt was full of dead flies and put us off eating our lunch in the room...skirting boards were full of dust and bath was full of hairs..not had a good clean at all which was very disappointing..just wished we'd have shopped around a bit more...£50 per night is not over the top but there is better accomodation to be had out there if u take time to look
Beautiful setting with lovely gardens. Very close to Masham village and its two
breweries. Plenty of places to eat & drink in the village including excellent fish &
chip shop.Lots of interesting local shops plus a Coop for groceries. Easy access to
many local attractions, including Thirsk, Harrogate, Leyburn, Ripon not forgetting
the lovely market town of Bedale.
The flat itself was light and airy with fully equipped kitchen area, plenty of pots etc.
Unusual layout with 'minstrels gallery' bedroom built over bathroom. We stayed for a
fortnight and still didn't manage to see everything we would have liked.
We love Masham and had noticed Bellfield during previous visits. It's in an excellent location within easy walking distance of the town and offered short term self catering which appealed as we did not want a full week.
The interior is very dated and tired which we can live with for a few nights but what came as rather a shock was the lack of cleanliness! The kitchen area in particular was a disgrace. There was visible dirt in the bottom of the plastic cutlery tray such that we felt we had to wash everything before use. There was a plastic breadboard again with visible accumulated dirt and by the time we had found that we were becoming very uncomfortable. We then noticed thick grease on the surface of the cooker hood filter which looked as if it could drip down into food on the hob ... potentially very dangerous. We also found dog hairs in the bathroom and on the bed sheets!
Two of the three sash windows were jammed shut and the third could be opened a short way and then had to be held up with a stick which was laying on the window sill. The window has no locking mechanism. Outside, there were some plastic garden chairs but they were too dirty to sit on with green mold evident.
Overall we could not recommend this place which is a great shame as it could be extremely good. What it needs is a professional deep clean and some money spending on the fabric of the building ... sorry but we will not be returning.
Rita, can I say what a fantastic home you have here....Its full of character. Very clean and comfortable.Loved the grounds and the lambs....Your in the country but just 2 mins walk to beautiful village of Masham. We will definitely stay here again.
Thanks for having us Rita.
