We enjoyed a wonderful 3 week stay at La Casa del Piano. The house was true to description and exceeded our expectations. It was clean and well prepared with basic supplies plus a generous welcome package. The house is stylish with art, antiques, books and attention to detail. The 3 terrace areas are pleasant sun traps with lush plants and flowers even in winter. The house is on the best street in town so is quiet, safe and central.
The owner was a pleasure to deal with and supplied us with driving directions and restaurant/activity suggestions. The property manager welcomed us on arrival and gave us a complete tour of the property. She was available and prompt in answering our questions during our stay.
I would definitely recommend the property and we hope to return ourselves. It is a big house for 2 people and would be ideal for a family or small group. Parking is tight in town so would suggest a small or no car.
We particularly enjoyed travelling on the Renfe trains to Granada and some of the other Pueblo Blancos. The train station is a short drive away and service is reliable. Jimena is a pleasant quiet town with friendly people and a good base for travelling about the area. It also has the best castillo.
Jimena de la Frontera is a small town of about 9K people with much charm, open friendliness, interesting inexpensive cafes and small restaurants. It is the home to several british expats. It served as a base for us in traveling to Ronda, Rock of Gibraltar, Cadiz and many other places in Southern Andalucia. Most of all we loved the home with its character and charm. It has the mix of antiqua charm with modern day conveniences including a pool in the patio area. We could have lived comfortably there for several weeks (if not months) but only had a week. We had six in our party comfortably using all three bedrooms. We enjoyed the openness of the family areas in the home as well as enjoyed just sitting outside in any of the three patio areas (including two baloncies with one on top of the roof) enjoying a sip of wine after a long travel day. We tried different restaurants in town during our stay and liked them all (most of the time talking with the owners in broken english and spanish) for different reasons. There is a charm to the town. Christine, the owner, was a great to help us before our arrival and many historical writings were available at the home giving the area (castille on the hill overseeing the town) historical significance. Hiking trails are also in the area. A car is needed but a train station is close by in a neighboring town. It was a great experience. We look forward to returning some day.
