Vacation marred slightly with owners claim to breakages on very old equipment. We were charged completely over the odds to replace old equipment (circa 1980s coffee maker with broken cover) and a pool thermometer which apparently was missing a plastic cover??? beware the deposit!
The fly screen to the balcony from the master bedroom is unusable despite repeated comments by previous guests.
The property is advertised as having Wi-Fi but coverage is patchy at best. Unlike other rentals in the past there are no basics in the kitchen in which to make meals barring salt and pepper.
On the positive side the property is very clean - basic but well presented.
This property lives up to the promise of the photos. Sue is a thoughtful and helpful hostess and has paid great attention to the comfort of her guests. Cambrils, the next nearest town after Miami Platja has much more to offer and is worth the extra 10 minutes travel distance. Only slight negative was that the wifi was a bit temperamental but Sue said she was addressing that.
My husband and I stayed for six nights on the middle floor of this villa, which is the upper apartment. Sue was very responsive, patient and helpful throughout the booking, check-in and departure. The apartment was clean, the beds were comfortable, the bathroom was spacious. The living-dining room was very small but adequate for two people. In warm weather, I think guests would always be on the large terrace for dining and conversation. The view over forests, orchards and out to sea is glorious. It's a great place for relaxing at the end of a day of touring!
The local "village" is not a draw, but there are SO many other towns and villages to delight tourists. You are less than ten minutes from grocery stores, restaurants, beaches, etc. Apart from the beaches which will draw many in season, the Tarragona region has so much to see that we barely scratched the surface in five days.
The biggest drawback was the erratic internet, which was best in one bedroom. We read a lot of books in down time, so all was well.
We stayed at the Lower of the two Suala Apartments in July 2015.
We enjoyed our stay here immensely and will probably return here again.
There are two apartments here, one above the other. The upper one has a very small, private pool on the terrace but the lower one is, I believe, cheaper. We took the lower and it was wonderful. The main reason for this is that it has a terrace running right along the front which looks out over a beautiful green valley with nothing to spoil the view, and also looks up to the mountains at one end. At night there is a beautiful, soft glow from one of the villages up in the mountains too.
To wake up to this wonderful view in the morning or sit out in front of it at night was just great. The terrace gets the sun in the morning but is completely shaded in the evening. That's ok though as it is a welcome break from the heat if you've been out in it all day. There is also a nice barbecue and table area with shades over it which is really nice for an evening meal as the sun goes down.
The apartment is modern, functional and clean and the owner was extremely helpful with any requests we had.
Drawbacks are small. First the mosquitoes were bad, just for a short period every night around sunset - bring repellant. However, they soon calm down after that time. Secondly, the local pool and tennis courts are maybe a 15 minutes walk away down the hill. This is made up for though by the excellent quality of them - you pay 3 Euros each for the pool for the whole day (you can come and go as you please) and it is very clean, warm and has a lifeguard on at all times. It is also quiet. There is a little franchise bar attached to it where they barbecue huge plates of food day or night for you at a very reasonable price. The only slight drawback is that you can't eat or drink in the pool area but the bar is right outside it. There is also a rough football pitch which my boys made great use of. The walk back up is a wee bit steep when you've just had a barbeque'd T-bone but personally, I enjoyed it when the stars were out...
The only other drawback is there is no air con in the apartment. There are, however, large, portable fans in the bedrooms which can just about cool a hot Scotsman enough to get to sleeping temperature.....
These small drawbacks are nothing when you consider the price and the wonderful view.
We found the Portaventura Water and Theme Park to be excellent - clean, well run and (for a change) well worth the money. However, there are also beautiful little villages to explore in the mountains to get some local culture.
We have never returned to the same Villa or Gite twice as we like to explore. However, there is a very good chance we will return here!
We had a lovely week here. The pool and balcony were brilliant. The internal accommodation was basic but fine for a week. If beds and fly screens were improved, the place would be excellent.
