“Great stop over on way to Kruger...”
Reviewed 11 May 2011

Richard was a fantastic host during our stay. He serves up a fantastic breakfast and also gives great advice on where to go in the area. We had planned on staying in Graskop or one of neighbouring towns but glad that we stayed in Sabie and with richard and Hazel since the B&B was fantastic and the rooms spotless. If you are looking for a stop over to explore Blyde river canyon or, like us, on the way to the Kruger... then this is a great place to stay.

Stayed at Hillwatering C/H on the way to KNP. Richard and Hazel were very hospitable. The room was massive and overlooked onto a well manicured rose garden. The views from the deck were stunning.
A perfect location to explore the Panorama route or stop over en-route to Kruger.

We stayed by Hazel & Richard 1 night. Beautiful place, good breakfast, and nice owners.
You have a breakfast with a spectacular view of the mountains. . The bathroom has a big shower and a big bathtub. The only minus was the WIFI connecton that in our room was not available due to the feeble signal, but in the own terrace was OK.

Spotless, well-lit, tastefully decorated rooms with tiled verandas that overlook a beautiful garden with a stunning view of the mountains on the horizon. Each room has its own attached bathroom, a small refrigerator and abundant closet storage space. Linens were of superior quality. The atmosphere is quiet, much to our liking. Hosts, Hazel and Richard, prepared an abundant English breakfast each morning and provided valuable sightseeing information about the local area. Sabie is a pleasant little town close to Blyde River Canyon. Good, bountiful meals at a reasonable price can be found at the Woodsman Restaurant in town. We enjoyed our stay at Hillwatering and highly recommend this B & B to others.

Have been for 2 nights in Sabie for a visit to the Northern Hills. Had a wonderful stay in this beautiful house. Already good impression while booking because of our mail- dialogue with Richard, we enjoyed our stay there totally. Good located, silent with a great view from own terrace to the nice garden and surrounding hills. Perfect accomodation and everywhere the creative influence of Hazel (the house is full of her own paintings and ideas).
Richard gives good tips (where to eat**, how to discover the country , infos with materials like maps, brochures ......)
We felt sorry that we had to leave after 2 days....
** went to the "Woodsman" where I had one of the best steaks of my life.

We had a most comfortable stay for 3 nights at Hillwatering Country House. It was easy to find after our drive from Johannesburg airport, in a peaceful location close to restaurants, shops etc. in Sabie. Hazel and Richard were excellent hosts and made us very welcome into their beautiful home where we had our own entrance into a spacious and well furnished room, with an en-suite bathroom, opening on to a veranda where we enjoyed a drink, from the well stocked fridge, while watching the sun go down after a days sightseeing in the area. We had a delicious breakfast sitting on the veranda one morning as the weather was warm. There was also secure parking for our car.
Hazel and Richards extensive knowledge of South Africa was invaluable in helping us plan the rest of our holiday there.
