We come here every yr for my birthday meal and the food, atmosphere and service never fails us. I really cant recommend the fountain enough. It was a double celebration this evening as my partner had proposed. The food is amazing, so full of flavour and plenty of it!!

We've been eating at The Fountain for a number of years now and have always loved the food, however we were not so lucky this time...
We were taken to our table and within seconds the waiter was back to take our drinks order, I was reading the wine menu but ordered a soft drink to begin with, husband ordered his beer even though he was settling our daughter into her seat and hadn't even removed his coat! The wine menu was then promptly taken out of my hands even though I was still reading it.
Drinks arrived very quickly and we were asked if we were ready to order..we weren't as we had barely been seated for 5 minutes. Waiter came back within another coule of minutes so were pressured to order. Husband had pork belly, I had fishcakes and our daughter had scampi and chips.
The food arrived quickly and within 30 seconds we were table checked, I had taken 1 bite of food and husband was still cutting our daughters, hardly enough time to judge the quality. Fish cakes were cold, 90% potato, actually cut both open to hunt for the haddock! The lemon sauce was non existent, stole my daughters tartare sauce to add some flavour. Pork belly was ok apparently but a measly portion. Daughters food was a huge portion but reformed scampi and obviously frozen sweetcorn and chips.
Husbands empty pint glass was cleared and no offer of another.
Food plates cleared and dessert menu's given when daughter was half way through her meal..waiter didn't ask how our meals were and we had to point out the mushy rotten lettuce and pepper in the salad, to which he replied "oh ok i'll tell the chef".
We didn't have dessert or further drinks. The place was busy which was good to see, so clearly getting something right but overall our experience was quite unpleasant. Will be giving The Fountain a break for a bit..

Has a very lovely meal here, felt very sophisticated for a pub. Great food, friendly service and very cosy. The garden is great in the good weather too, well kept and respected. Great location for a walk to work up an appetite first and with lots of parking.

Turned up without booking and staff soon arranged a table for two, even though very busy which was appreciated as could see they were expecting to be busy.
Great choice on the menu, a few specials as well to pick from, and the traditional Sunday roasts which seemed very popular. Really enjoyed our meal choices, dessert was tasty and over all a lovely, impromptu Sunday lunch out as we went for a drive around the area.
Only issue, which is very temporary, is the road closure signs up at the moment, which are misleading, you can gain access from traveling from Ipswich but signs say road ahead closed so you would think you can not, but stay on the road, you end up at the pub and can't go any further, so prefect excuse to go in, like we did....

Drove past and stopped. We expected a pub but is more a restaurant. This is not a negative it was very nice. The gardens would be lovely in the summer. Very well looked after. Simple honest food with a good price.
Service is very good and friendly. An enjoyable lunch
