Globales Tamaimo Tropical

Returned from Tamaimo last week, stayed there for two weeks with my GF. We had a brilliant time, room was fine we over looked the pool with the BBQ which in the mornings was a bit noisy with the workers pool cleaners and Sun bed grabbers getting there beds but this is easy to stop by shutting the window! The sun bed issue is only an issue at the weekends when the Spanish fill up the hotel, but this is only Saturday and Sunday and when they leave the hotel returns back to normality. Pools and pool areas clean. The food... for a *****2 Star**** hotel (not a 3 which alot of peeps get mistaken by) is not to bad, i thought some of it was under seasoned and bland but there is alot of choice. The burgers and hot dogs round the pool are good if u miss breakfast or just fancy a snack. To be honest after 3 days of totally eating in the hotel we decided to look else where. I will recommend 'San Fransisco' Lovely mixed grill for 9.50 euros and its huge and so are the steaks. and the waiter Oscar was quite funny to. And there is virtually no evening entertainment, and the entertainment that there was is in the Disco bar which is very small and not everyone would fit in there anyway. We got half tanked up in the hotel then made our way down to route 66 or The courtyard for some varied entertainment. We also done the pub crawl organized by Thomas cook in las americas which is good but very expensive. we where paying at one stage 10 euros for 2 drinks. when next door they would do 1 euro a beer, be warned ! I personally wont return to tamaimo i have nothing very bad to say but the lack of entertainment and so-so food means that was my last visit.

Room Tip: Rooms round the pool where the BBQ is is noisier during the day but quiter at night as the disco bar...

I read many bad reviews about the hotel before i left, mainly complaining about noise levels and having to queue for sunbeds in a morning, I think these are the people that shouldn't book a holiday during school holiday/peak summer time, what do you expect really? I flew sep 11th and stayed 7nights, the hotel was busy, but not full, I had NO problems getting a sunbed at any time, the food was varied daily and in constant supply, only 1 night out of the 7 did the options leave me with few things i like to choose from, I went all inclusive and the 2drinks at a time rule was not an issue as service was fast, the beer was cold and the local spirits were generously measured.

Valdi the masseur at poolside is a legend at only 20Euros for a 60min massage and free smoothie!!! Highly reccommended.

When I visited Loro Parque Zoo my coach deperted before breakfast so they provided a breakfast bag for free, at checkout you can book a courtesy room to shower/change before you depart for home, the free wifi was a pleasant bonus too!

I spent £500 on the holiday and had no sleep/noise issues, If you want a super chilled holiday with 5star service then head to the North of Tenerife and spend £1000 per person, but people who write terrible reviews for places are generally at fault themselves and once an initial problem occurs are just looking for more things to go wrong, I met some nice people and had the holiday i paid for :)

Holidayed here from the 4th to the 14th september, my husband and i wanted a relaxing holiday and were lucky to get a good deal. We arrived early hours of the morning and found the reception staff very friendly and found our room with no difficulty. Our room was overlooking the pool and was nice and clean, you couldnt fault the clenliness around the hotel and the room got cleaned every day apart from sunday, we had a few minor problems throughout our stay but we were very impressed with how quickly they were dealt with after reporting it to the reception staff. We took a walk to los gigantes which is a must fantastic views and about 15 mins walk at a leisurly pace. The Marina is lovely and we took a boat trip out to see the dolphins and whales which was amazing, there is also a nice cove beech there is well. The food is not as bad as people say if you are really fussy then this hotel is not for you, Breakfast you couldnt fault there was something there for everyone, some nights are better than others alot of pork and fish which my husband enjoyed, There was a good choice of salad, meat, fish, pasta, rice, and the desserts were lovely cheese and biscuits were also available if you still felt hungry.( At the end of our stay we did eat out as my husband really wanted a typical paella). The 2 drink rule didnt bother us as and you can go up as many times as you like, the small plastic cups really didnt spoil our holiday and can totally see why they use them.
The hotel does need to work on there evening entertainment as there was no where to sit and not a great atmosphere but we found it nice to go for a wonder after dinner and poped into some of the local bars and had great evenings. We met some lovely people would we go back to this hotel yes we would if we got another good deal. The weather was perfect and we had a lovely holiday and came back very relaxed.

Holidayed here from the 4th to 15th Sept. Good points, cleanliness was very good in all areas of hotel but could be doing with putting out ashtrays during the day and just wish other folks would clear their rubbish when vacating tables. Cleaner did the room everyday apart from Sunday and towels were changed most days although for some reason we were only left with 2 towels for the last few days. Didn't complain as there was only 3 of us so we just muddled through. The room itself was fine but maybe a little dated but big enough for our needs.
The food, maybe we're not as fussy as some folks but we found it to be fine with a good selection and certainly didn't go hungry anyday. There seems to be a dishwashing issue though and many plates/bowls were put out with dried food still on them.
The bad points, we were in room 210 overlooking the pool with the bridge and due to there being no air con had to sleep with the windows open which led to us being woke every morning about 7 as the Brits gathered for sunbed wars. I've never ever seen the likes of this at any hotel we've stayed at. Putting towels over piles of sunbeds which were still chained then taking seats from the snack-bar area to guard their piles. The noise would reach a cresendo about 8.15 when the beds were unchained then they'd all vanish for an hour or 2. It was better into the latter part of our holiday when the staff started placing the beds out at night which meant they could put their towels out at night.
The Spanish are nightmare when they turn up at the weekends as groups of teenagers descend and turn rooms into party zones with loud music and shouting. Security struggled to handle the situation. The hotel really needs to decide if its a family hotel or a party hotel.
The worst noise though started when a new group of Brits turned up and thought it a good idea to go swimming in the early hours then racially abuse security and reception staff as they tried to get them out as well as threatening other guests who dared to complain, how this group were allowed to finish their holiday in the hotel is anybodies guess!
The entertainment was poor, the room certainly isn't big enough and more tables and chairs outside are required to stop folk from having to sit on sunbeds. We often got a table outside the windows so our daughter could watch the parrot/snake shows etc etc but the minute a show starts other folk have no qualms about moving in and standing in front of you. Just pure ignorance.
Drinks, we didn't have a problem with the 2 drinks rule but we did have a problem with the lack of alcohol content in it, half strength vodka I would reckon and beer that was also low strength (I got more of a kick off 2 bottles of Dorado on the balcony that I did from double the amount of hotel beer). For my money I think that the white wine is your best bet!
Its been mentioned about the young Polish guy who fell from the balcony but there was so much rumour I'll not comment on it apart from to say it was a tragic thing to happen.

I'll not comment on whats around the hotel as I intend putting a review up on the TA Puerto De Santiago forum so you can read that if you want.
Would we go back to Santiago? Yes, but not the Tamaimo Tropical.

PS. If anyway needs a cash machine the nearest one is round the corner in reception of the Barcelo Santiago hotel

Me,my partner an a friend stayed here from the 31st Aug to the 14th Sept.

We wa very worried before we went as I had read the reviews on here.on arrival it was good must reception staff friendly.got told were r room was took a while to find as directions wasn't gd.we were on 4th floor looking over the bbq pool room 406 we didn't have air con but didn't worry us.

The food:wen we arrived we wen to the bbq it was the only time we ate there not very gd.the food in the restaurant was average what u pay for by the end of it it was getting boring and we dI'd have to eat out 2 time coz we couldn't stand the smell.breakfast is gd old English fry up n cearl, croissants so a gd range.

Cleaners were really friendly n wen going to the bar the two drink rule made it quicker n didn't really bother us.

The Thompson rep martin is useless wen we found that there was no food that we could eat there we was told that wat to expect very rude n ur best to go to the reception staff

Over all not a bad hol alot of hills go to the natural pool which is about 10 Mon walk and check the restaurants out round the corner.

If I had a family would I stay there again may be but not as a couple
