Just returned today from a 14 night stay with the wife and 3 children. Overall we all agreed the hotel represents good value for money IF you don't pay brochure prices. We booked on a self catering basis for just over £300pp then upgraded to all inclusive after a day. The difference in price by upgraded once there is HUGE - I reckon we saved over £1000 compared to the quoted prices by upgraded there. The reception give adults a Silver wristband and kids a blue one which needs to be worn to get the AI treatment. The hotel rating is 2 star which I would say is about right...read on.....

We saw numerous holiday makers giving away bands when leaving to new arrival (for free) which is disappointing - no checks are made when entering the eating area's to see if your band is valid! Bob the rep for most of the companies which use the hotel was aware of this. Something needs to be done to stop non-payers abusing the system.

In terms of the hotel itself - it is defo a case of M&S one side and Tesco's the other in terms of quality. We think at some point the hotel may have been two and has been combined to make one large 400+ rooms - the site is roughly a figure of "8" with apartments in one section and rooms in the other - our room had a sea view (Section C) but the road behind was very noisy early morning (4am+) and we had no air conditioning or double glazing to dampen the constant noise. The rooms are in dire need of modernisation - but the rooms are large in size and very clean. We understand the rooms are currently being bought into the 21 Century so future residents may find a better quality fitted room than we did. No cleaning takes place on a Sunday.

The pool area is a defo plus point for this hotel - 4 large pool area's and yes plenty of sunbeds and new sun umbrella's too which were inleashed 3 days after we arrived. The sun-beds are chained up @ night and unleashed to the waiting crowds between 8.30am to 9am - so make sure you are up and ready with your towels for the scrum!

Night time is either spent eating yourself silly till 9.30pm then taking in the BINGO and shows afterwards in the disco .

In terms of days out we went to both beaches in the area - the best being heading out of the hotel and up the red steps infront of the hotel turning right at the top then a 15 minute walk along the front to the black beach known as Playa De La Arena. Superb waves and crystal clear waters but do take a sun-shade as the life-guards do charge for use of the facilities.

A must for anyone looking to see the dolphins and whales is the
Flipper Uno trip - go down to the habour and book direct with the office there - we paid 28 euro's compared to the 50 euro's the hotel/Thomas Cook will charge you! You will get to see plenty of widelife close up and enjoy the swim and rope swing + food aferwards. We all throughly enjoyed the 3 1/2 sea voyage.

To sum up the resort is great for families - we had no trouble nor saw any so don't be worried about coming here. Once the hotel is modernised then we would defo return. Food is average - nothing special but plenty to try and drink is free flowing....would we return ?? Well probably IF we paid a similar price again.

First of all - I CAN'T disagree more with the previous reviews...
So much mud has been thrown on that hotel but hey, holidays are to relax, not to find problems to complain at!
Personally i found the hotel really nice and clean, the only cocroach I saw was on the last night OUTSIDE the hotel...
Also the swimming pool - it's not dirty, it's being cleaned every morning, the problem with it is that the water is very salty - just like the sea water but fortunately you don't get loads of salt on your body afterwards or anything like that, just the horrible taste if you manage to drink it...
The cleaners are actually really nice of course if you are kind to them as well, they're not machines but people! Shame they dont speak much English but good thing if you speak at least a little Spaish, it helps A LOT, not only in understanding but also it changes the attitude of the staff which unfortunately, is biosed towards the Spaniards, especially at the bar where the staff barely speaks any English. But again with a little bit of effort you could achieve everything.
The food is really nice, though sometimes a little more variety could be added. Never got sick or anything but it's also because more precausions have been done like checking the plates, not puting anything on the tables in the canteen ( they clean them only after the meal even when many people use them before us ), buying your own water etc... ie: standard procedure ;)
anyway, yes, the food was always well cooked, sometimes you could get really tasty meals, also the desserts-section was very sastisfying. I especially liked the variety of fruit and really tasty bread, not the kind of weak and spongy.
Me and my partner went AI so we also got most of the drinks and they were really nice, whatever mixture I asked, I could get it. The evenings were quite pleasant, with the children being engaged in the disco bar for most of the time, the only weak point was the insufficient number of chairs to sit on, it's the same with the sunbeds - if you came a little late, you could end up siting on the wall or parapete or, what was the worst - very far from the bar ( eg on the second swimming pool where the service was always closing very early ). But with good moods even that wasnt an issue as we liked quiet spots.
I can't say the nights were completely quiet but then we didnt have the issue of children running around at 3am or anything like that, only twice we were woken up by people on the corridors but it was more at the 'human' time and it was solely because the window of our bedroom wasnt going outside the building (which was a shame) but onto the indoors corridor. Beside that the room was alright, air con working properly all the time, nice small bathroom and lounge with kitchenette, everything kept quite clean (and the towels changed almost every day!) and a balcony onto the swimming pool view, right on the first floor. This location was so comfortable so that siting next to the bar or swimming pool you get a dilema - 'shall i go to the toilet in here or go to my own room?'
The area of Puerto de Santiago was great, we found 3 beaches not that far from the hotel and also the natural pool VERY close to the hotel. Not many people visit it so you can really enjoy it plus the great view of the ocean and the tremendous waves. The weather was fantastic all the time, we went for a week and we get one cloudy day but even then we got really burnt just walking around the place for not such a long time!
There are also many spots where you can just sit and enjoy the view, the spectacular ocean, sunset or the magnificient cliffs.
When it comes to the enterntainment section, you dont get much in the hotel itself as it's inclined more towards the children ( but of course you can try all the different sport-facilities ) but the area is full of pubs, clubs and restaurants so you can't be bored. The only thing I disliked in there was the fact that there was too many British pubs and restaurants, I mean, if I go to visit another country, I expect to learn its traditional food, drink and customs not so much of the familiar looks. But among all those you could find really nice very-Spanish places as well ( with an alcohol served always with free snacks ;) ).
I must also praise on the low praices in there, both in the shops and in the pubs, just be careful not to buy anything in the hotel itself or directly from the rep ( eg dont book the trips with him) as it is much more expensive this way. Just to show the picture:
the postcards in the hotel costed 0.45 euro whereas anywhere else it was like 0.25 euro or so.
Oh, and that case about the sunbeds - the hotel rules clearly say 'it is forbidden to reserve sun beds by placing towels on them' yet, every morning already at 8am you could see people with the towels standing outiside and waiting for the sunbeds (unlocked at 9am), such a pathetic view! Escpecially that in the end there was ALWAYS some spare ones left, besides me and my partner, we havent used the sunbeds at all as we were sunbathing on the beaches or by the natural pool which was much more conveinient. Furthermore, many of those sunbeds were already vacant at about 4pm so you could use them then and the sun wasnt any worse than in the morning. Plus, you could always sit (or lie) in the sun on your own balcony ;)

Anyway, the week we spent there was definitely not enough, probably will go there once again!

i have just come back from this hotel last niite in fact and overall i can say it was average.
i have to coment on the rooms as they are lovely and big , shame about the rock solid beds. also no air con and u have to pay 24 euro a week for a fan.

the pools were big but always very busy and not clean. my freinds brother was sik every day becuase the water is not cleaned or fitlered a nd to be fair everyone weed in the pool any way !

the entertainment is non existant!!!!! but to be fair its soo busy so ur bound to make friends. the staff are polite and always tehre wen u need them.

the food is lovely i didnt get bored at all, although the bread was always hard and the bacon always had so much fat but the chips were lovely as well as the pasta.

i think everyone would enjoy it here but it can be loud at nite especially with all the teenagers around, drunk. the hotel is opositre a supermarket and close to the beach. there are many sunbeds but u have to get up for them.

1st) Dont use the Netto supermarket accross the road the rude girl behind the till tries to hike the price up thinking that you are foreign and therfore incapable of addition, i can only assume this is her second income. The Dia supermarket opposite reception is also cheaper.
We went all inclusive for one week with thomas cook and overall enjoyed our holiday however not because of the hotel. The food was bland, predictable and would not consider it worth thomas cooks rating of 3*. During our week our bedding was never changed and for two days we were left without toilet roll and then no towels. This must be a common problem as they keep spares in reception. The rep Bob seems nice to speak to but unwilling to got out of his way to address any problems. We enjoyed the evening entertainment and there is a good selection of drinks available.
I read previous reviews about the state of the pools, however i saw them being cleaned every-morning and found the pool very clean. I got the chance to see them being cleaned because of the need to wait an hour everymorning at 8 to reserve a sun lounger. Most of the loungers are reserved and then left unused for the majority of the day. The staff at the hotel were rude and it felt like they were doing you a favour by serving you, this wasent an issue for the spanish guests. Overall i dont believe i got value for money from this holiday and thin thomas cook need to have a word with their reps.
This is a beautiful part of the world but be warned all the roads are steep. The boat trips to see the whales and dolphins are well worth a day out, just book it without the overpriced help from the reps. The bar Ninos just round the corner serves great food and is also good value for money with polite staff willing to help you.

Good points
1. Relaxed - people dress down and there is no need to make an effort.
2. Self-catering facilities - good sized rooms and kitchens - supermarket across the road (DIX or DIA or something like that - do not use NETTO)
3. Most of the staff do try for the most of the time - staff moral appears to be an issue though - staff lack motivation and tend not to smile or get involved, despite you trying.
4. We got a sun-tan and spent some quality time together.
5. Food is decent on the All inclusive option – not a great choice but we did not expect it. At least it is cooked properly and enough to go round.

Bad points
1. Firstly, I would not return which says it all really! Believe me when I say am the easiest of people to please.
2. Noise - very bad in the evening. I describe it as 'Bayroot'.
3. The rep listens when you complain, BUT sides with the hotel really. If you report an issue, he will chat away in Spanish to the hotel staff and make you think that something is being sorted. But it does not get sorted just brushed aside. We woke up between 2 and 4 each morning with gangs of youths and people returning from a night out - fine if you are in joining in, but not so good if you want a relaxing holiday or if you have a small family.
4. We were also woken up by other families loosing their tempers with other guests, because the noise was so out of control.
5. Full of Spanish Chavs - they take over the pool by day (push English girls off their rubber rings etc when in the pool etc) and are very loud at night, English guests were also complaining that one group of Spanish lads in particular were taking photos of young English girls and spending a lot of time with around them.
6. Entertainment ok for adults in the evening (bit like the Benidrom series - bingo, live music (the type that Simon Cowell rejects each year on X-factor). THERE IS NOTHING FOR TEENAGERS SO DO NOT BOOK IF YOU WANT THE KIDS LOOKED AFTER OR KEPT OUT OF TROUBLE.
6. Rooms full of cockroaches - but apparently this is OK because you can get a spray from reception (we were never told this until we left). I had 3 in a bed one night - it was a cockroach though - climbing up my leg.
7. Bedding does not get changed - they make you think it does, but mine had a wired stain for the full 2 weeks. The maid just kept making the beds up even though I pulled the sheets off each morning.
8. Pool areas very run down - but hey it didn't stop us having a good time in the pool. Anything white will get stained a green colour, but it will eventually wash out.
9. Life guards - think they are on a fashion parade - texting on their mobiles rather than keeping their eyes on the children. You think they would learn from their mistakes but they did not. A lad actually drowned whilst we were there. Eventually he was brought around but there was no life guard in sight because they were stood talking at the other pool.
10 Carlos is a member of staff of reception - watch out if you have to deal with him - he will say things and then deny it later.

We went as 2 couples, all inclusive and stayed the last week in June. The hotel is very clean and the reception staff are excellent. When we booked the holiday we asked for a top floor with balcony overlooking the pool. The rooms they gave us were on the bottom floor. We asked to change and they did the next day. I also asked for an extra pillow at the desk and it was already there by the time I got up to my room! The only bad thing about this hotel is there is no air conditioning. But they have fans that you can rent for 15 euros. We had no trouble with cockroaches in our rooms and only saw a couple in the courtyard and in the pool area. Entertainment was ok but we preferred going to Route 66 at night which is behind the hotel. We highly recommend seeing Old Dogs, New Tricks. They are really good and they sing a good variety of songs. We saw them a couple of times and they always sang different songs. There really isn't much to see in the immediate area except for the Los Gigante cliffs which are gorgeous. I wouldn't stay in Tenerife for more than a week. The only thing to really do there is shop or go on tours which are cheaper if you book them outside of the hotel. There are a lot more shops and big markets in Los Cristianos and Playas de Las Americas. We especially enjoyed the daily sunshine!
