This is an unforgettable place..To have a truly candlelit dinner beautifully cooked for you while surrounded by the sounds of nature was truly memorable.. The guys who run this place could not be more courteous and concerned for your welfare and enjoyment. They took us on a birdwalk and were so knowledgeable. They also arranged for a guide to take us to Yala and we found a sloth bear amongst many other sites! Fabulous place with Kamal and team , don’t miss it,

We loved it here – it was the perfect venue for a family of three birdwatchers. We thoroughly enjoyed the walks expertly led by Kamal. He and his team looked after us very well. The tents were clean, spacious and comfortable and the Sri Lankan food served in the mud hut restaurant was well cooked and delicious. At night the whole area was romantically lit by candles.

This is a fantastic experience for the family. I'd suggest 1 night if you are with children rather than 2. The camp is brilliantly simple and yet sophisticated. Run by Kamal who is also the resident walking safari guide, his team are courteous, very well trained and service-oriented. This is a true eco-camp without any electricity for those wishing for a family tech-detox. The 3 tents are very spacious, extremely comfortable and clean and well kept. Flushing loo and shower en-suite. The camp is lit by hurricane lamps and candlelights so effectively as dusk comes. The food is essentially Sri Lankan and once again, simple but very well executed. The walking safaris are something a little different - and aimed more at birds, small fauna and flora. However, the jungle walk goes further into heavy undergrowth used as elephant trails and whilst we weren't lucky to see elephants in the camp or on the walk, I can well imagine they are fairly regular sitings. The kids loved the whole experience. Just getting there was a half-hour tuk tuk, most of which on rough paths from the main road. Camp was a flurry of good old-fashioned family chatter and entertainment and all their tech was soon forgotten (thankfully!). We had a fantastic thunderstorm in the night and sleeping in such simplicity under mosquito nets - it was one of the best night's sleep we have had. All in all - simplicity at its very best and our thanks to Kamal and his team.

We wanted to visit Yala during our stay in Sri Lanka and while looking for places to stay nearby my boyfriend came across this place.
We have been on a similar camp in Africa and this seemed like a nice thing to experience again.
We were picked up in Buttala and taken to the lodge on a 3 wheeler in the dark evening which brought more excitement to the adventure.
We were the only guests for 2 nights there and it felt amazing having such place for ourselves with a lovely welcoming candlelit dinner.
On our first morning, we went for a walk around the forest near the camp with 3 of the staff. It was such a nice thing to do and we got pointed at interesting insects, trees, animals and had such a nice time taking photos along with them. They all have an interest in their surroundings and Deepal is a very keen photographer and has a better camera than us! :-)
After lunch we enjoyed an afternoon safari in Yala, organised through them, around the North block (block 4 or 5?). We managed to see so much stuff including a leopard!!
The following morning was a full day safari on the main block (block 1) which was a long day but also worthy. It's a beautiful park with amazing fauna in it.
The lodge is what it says on their website but also much more: camp with tents, no electricity, basic amenities, running water and toilet, comfortable bed with mosquito net, they even provide you with binoculars, torches, and spare toothbrush & paste, soap, shampoo, mosquito repellent if needed...and more.
It's a nice experience to sit outside your tent at night with candles, the breeze and a very refreshing lime soda water, to detach ourselves from modern life now and then and enjoy nature.
The surrounding forest and camp area is nice and well kept, the main building very welcoming and we even had dinner with an elephant and coffee early in the morning with a leopard in the distance!
It is located in a remote part of the park so animals might wonder nearby but the staff are on it and will look after you very wisely and safely.
Food was very good, tasty and plentiful and the staff were very attentive to any of our needs.
If you need to charge camera batteries, they can help you with it but we didn't have to as we had spares.
I have taken very nice memories of my stay with them and I would go back in a heartbeat.
Thank you to all the staff for such a wonderful stay! :-)

We had a wonderful stay in Tree Tops Jungle Lodge and had the camp to our own most of the time. We were very lucky having visiting elephants in the camp two days out of three. We also saw a wild cat during one of the lovely walks, quite rare. Eagles, kingfishers and butterflies added to the experience.

We enjoyed everything in the camp, both the team, the good food and the whole feeling. Everyone was very skilled and social.

All in all, one of the highlights of the entire trip to Sri Lanka.
