I went to royal hills with a group of ten friends for a golf weekend. The play and stay rate was good value. The hotel is basic but clean and comfy. The course presents many excellent challenges. It is well kept on the greens and fairways. The restaurant serves very tasty Thai food and a refreshing beer after a round of golf.
I had another interesting lunch time meal at the Royal hills! From the time you leave the main road and entre the long and winding road that leads to the main part of Royal hills the views are amazing from the natural forest and the clouds of mist that hang there to the well kept greens of the golf course.
The food is always well presented and the staff will go out of there way to make sure you are looked after and you can just sit back enjoy the food and look at the amazing views.
We stayed at the Royal Hills Golf Resort and Spa because our friends who own and live in a house on the resort booked us a room.
The room was spacious with high ceilings, the beds comfortable and included a shower, TV, desk and was air-conditioned.
The staff made the room up each day but it was showing it's age ... hence the title "ÓK if you like golf" because you will be out on the course all day and eating in the restaurant before going to sleep and when your eyes are shut, it doesn't matter.
The resort is placed in the foothills of the jungle so if you hit a ball into the trees there is a good chance that a monkey will steal it.
This resort is very popular with Koreans and when we arrived, it was about 10 pm and there were people driving golf balls in the dark ... they should have been using luminous balls .. or maybe they were wearing night-vision goggles .. so the golfing must be great.
It was a pleasant enough stay and a good base to explore bits of Thailand that aren't close to the traffic hell called Bangkok.
The resort has some great restaurants one of which will be the subject of another review.
So if you like golf or want a base away from Bangkok to explore the Khao National Park to see the waterfalls, elephants and monkeys (subject to another review), then stay here ... the rates are good and the scenery spectacular.
This is essentially a resort built around a 18-hole golf course carved out from the stunning hill jungle that still surrounds it on all sides, part of the Kao Yai forests complex. Fully set up to cater to the golfing enthusiast, but also suitable for reclusive team meetings. Level of comfort and services average.
Enjoyed the 2 rounds of golf and 1 night promotion. Service was prompt and with a smile and English typical of Thailand. Only local Thai TV and the internet was sketchy, but everything in the room functioned well and the balcony view of the 18th hole was nice. The buffet breakfast which is included was very good, not 5 star with an omelette station but several offerings which were well made. The golf course was in great shape except for the bunkers, several were not raked well and the sand was thin and hard. This was a great value for a golf trip.
