Review of The Delphi Club
5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Jun 9, 2024
The Delphi Club defines a world class fishing lodge. We were thrilled with the fishing and dining experience. The fellow traveler anglers were a wonderful lot and made the time a joy. We have scheduled another visit in the fall. The site is not a diamond in the rough, but a fully polished gem! If you have the opportunity, this is a sure wonderful time. Finally, the staff were highly professional and excellent in addressing any needs.

We were greeted by our hosts, Jess and Kyle, old friends from previous
trips here. With them were two new, wonderful people, Luke and Gabriella, who
were a large part of our fun and enjoyment in the coming days.

As we were shown to our special room, we were again amazed at the lovely
remodel that was done last year. A modern upgrade to the bath was great,
especially the shower with the new shower wand. The grounds around the
lodge looked so manicured, and the box lunches waiting on the table were a very
      welcome treat.

Our first fishing day started with the Delphi scrambled eggs and the special
Delphi coffee. Our dream was coming true. Soon we were on the road with
Ashron for a trip to the Marls. The wind was pushing us around some, but Ashron
set us up for some great shots at the bones.

Later, when we returned, we were introduced to Guy, another of our hosting
staff, presenting delectable canapes. The bar was our first stop where
we found an outstanding array of tempting spirits. Soon, other guests arrived and new friends were made.

Gabriella was busy brewing the magic drink of the day on the porch, and we were thrilled to learn that our first night was BBQ night with Luke at the grill. What a treat!

On our second day, the weather was rough in the morning, and only two boats went out in the afternoon. Ishi did his best to put us on fish at Cherokee, and Clare, having caught more fish than anyone else that day (two), was at the head of the table at dinner! The competition was obviously severe!

On day three we were with Ashron again on the Marls, and Rick went into high gear with five bones to the boat before noon. It was a great day!

On day four, Rick finally got a nice barracuda, 40 inches long, on one of his unique, hand-crafted cuda lures. Clare waded with Carlis in the afternoon and caught six bones, one of which was nine pounds! We were all thrilled, and Clare ended up at the head of the table again!

Each night we were asked to make the tough choices of our dinner entrée as the options were grand, and we were able to choose a wine from your well-stocked cellar.

On our last evening, we were given a lovely bottle of bubbly to celebrate Rick's
birthday. We shared it all around with the dinner guests. The next morning a wonderful birthday cupcake tower appeared at our breakfast table, and we were able to enjoy celebratory mimosas with some remaining bubbly and freshly squeezed orange juice. It's those little details that make the Delphi Club so special.

So many people did so much to make our visit memorable. Some we did not even meet, but we recognize how important their efforts were. Many thanks to those mentioned above and to Kentrell, Opal, Thelisa, Denise, Breanna, Tallia, Emmanuel, Dom and Jazzy. You have a great team at Delphi, and we hope to see everyone again on our next trip.

Definitely the best in the Bahamas. You can’t control the fishing, but you can control the amenities. Delphi’s people, setting, rooms, lodging and cuisine are at the top of the pyramid. Suitable for anglers and non-anglers alike.

Delphi is the finest bone fishing lodge in the Bahamas by far. The fishing is unsurpassed. The guides are incredible and they accommodate the most experienced fly fishermen or the novice who has never held a rod in his hand. The lodge is luxurious, with first class accommodations, a beautiful “Great Room” in which to relax and socialize. The bar is well stocked, comfortable and brand new. The meals are delicious from breakfast through dinner. There is also a beautiful pool, a mile of pristine beach and a well equipped gym.
Delphi is a must do trip!

Nothing about the lodge looked like a fishing club, it was perfect in every way. The breeze flowed through the great room with a soft refreshing scent.
The long dining table was set for the sixteen guests who were enjoying cocktails on the veranda.

Room tip: The best bone fishing you can find with best accommodations this close to home. The airport is just a few minuets from the lodge.

I rarely write reviews these days, but after having dinner last night at the Delphi Club, I found myself at the keyboard wanting to share what I experienced. From the very start, in the parking lot, where the hosts, Jess and Kyle, were there to greet us, it became very clear that the Delphi Club was committed to delivering a first class dining experience. The lodge could not be more charming and the setting on the crystal blue waters of the Atlantic is breathtaking. But what really caught our attention more than anything was the ambience. We felt right at home immediately. We went to the bar and began to mingle with the other guests. Dining at the Delphi Club is all about the people. Dinner is served family style at a table that seats 14-16 guests. There is a happy hour prior to dinner which is a great opportunity to meet your dinner companions for the evening. We met a group of fascinating people, from various parts of the US as well as some from the UK. Everyone was super friendly and welcoming. Lots of great stories and lots of laughs as we got to know our new friends. Not to mention platters of delicious hors d'oeuvre's with lobster skewers, and goat cheese/bacon. Fantastic. We made our way to the dining room and settled in for dinner. The choices for dinner were either a chicken dish with cheese grits (my wife ordered this) or grouper with fresh vegetables (which I ordered). An appetizer of tuna sashimi was served first, which was phenomenal. The entrees were served and were prepared to perfection. Rave reviews from everyone at the table. As great as the food was, it was our dinner companions that really made the experience special. Several toasts were made and stories were told. We had so much fun. We did not want the evening to end. After a wonderful lemon sponge cake dessert was served everyone made their way back to the bar. We shared a few more laughs and headed for home. It had been a terrific evening. If you ever come to Abaco, dining at the Delphi Club is a must. You won't regret it.
