I took my granddaughter skiing and stayed at Sugarloaf Inn and it is a great place to ski. The staff at the hotel was so nice and always more than willing to offer advice. We did not need anything done to our room, they were cleaned very well and we felt pampered. It's great to have the hotel situated so close to so many different restaurants right at your door as well as skiing; health/spa facility. Just a great place to go.

This property really is SKI IN-SKI OUT slopeslide lodging. There is no hiking while carrying skis required. They are not exagerrating when they say SKI IN-SKI OUT. So that is probably my favorite part about this lodging. There are ski lockers downstairs and you can literally cross-country ski yourself to the lift line, just about 10-20 yards away. (I say cross-country because this part is flat.) Or, if you prefer, you can head about half a mile downhill instead to the condo area and pickup a lift from there, thus avoiding any cross-country skiing at all.

The lodging pretty well met standard lodging expectations. The only trouble we had was with noise. However, I should note that we stayed New Year's Eve and there was a celebration going on at the bar downstairs. (We're a little odd in that we don't stay up late that night.) So we did have trouble sleeping with the lack of sound proofing. I should also note that we had the "honeymoon suite" - one of only a couple rooms with a king size bed and a deck, but located in the center of the property. The majority of the rooms are queen or double beds and are located in wings to either side, which probably provides more soundproofing. Putting the noise aside, we very much enjoyed our stay.

BTW, Sugarloaf is a GREAT mountain to ski. Because it's so remote (be prepared for a heck of a drive) it is not very crowded, yet the snow conditions are consistently good, and there is a plethora of terrain for all abilities. All mountains claim to have something for everyone, but this one REALLY does. As a beginner, there were several gentle slopes for me to get started on, and when I came back as an intermediate skier I again found plenty of variety at my level. I'm not a black diamond skier yet, but the expert skiers in my group really enjoyed themselves as well, "skiing really hard all day long." Sugarloaf also recently installed a magic carpet lift for true beginners. The lesson programs here are also great. I've enjoyed lessons at almost every place I've taken them, but I am just amazed by how much the Sugarloaf instructors have helped me improve.

However, be prepared to PAY for it! We stayed 3 nights, and there were 2 adults and no kids in our party. Lodging included breakfast, lift tickets, and ski lessons for both of us each day. The cost was $300 per night.
