We stayed here for two nights during a house hunting trip to Limousin as it was central of several locations we wanted to see. In fact, it was SO hard to find and get to and from, it ended up being a bad choice for us but that is not the hotel's fault.
What IS the hotel's fault however, are the awful directions to their hotel from their website. It requires very precise instructions to find this place and ;go through the village and under a bridge' just doesn't cut it.
Here are the satNav coordinates for the hotel but watch out for dirt track alternate directions if you get lost: N46 degrees 07, 484'E002 degrees 01.653'
If no satnav, then be sure to call the hotel for precise directions.
The hotel is small and in a country location but set on the side of a steep hill so nowhere for a small child to run around as I had hoped. English people own and run the hotel aided by their daughters who are all delightful and helpful.
They have a lovely restaurant and serve excellent food, there is also a place to sit by the fireplace here which is nice, as the bar area gets very smoky. The bar attracts a younger, French crowd and can be rowdy.
There is no lift and parking in front of the hotel is small and usually full. There is another car park across the road but our car was scraped by another car here, after their busy Saturday night crowd.
Lots of Brits stay here. The rooms are very nice, beautifully clean and the bathroom we had was beautiful with a large bag of full sized products provided.
The shower, be warned, is a miserable dribble which will go scalding or cold, depending on who else on the floor is using it or flushing a toilet! one manages though, with some patience.
There is no internet access here but the owners kindly let us use their computer to check email. The room includes a kettle, tea and coffee supplies, a large bottle of water and glasses. Our room was for three and the extra bed was off in a separate little part of the room, giving one privacy and it had its own light so one could read without disturbing the other people.
The nice thing about this hotel, are the staff and owners who really go out of their way to make everything pleasant. We arrived very late for dinner and they served us a hot, four course meal when we arrived which was hugely appreciated.
I recommend this hotel if you like or want to be in this area and have older kids or teens. it is hard on people with mobility issues.
