I was joined by my siblings on a root-finding trips back to China recently. We stayed in hotels in Hong Kong, ShunDe, Zhongshan, QingYuan, and Jinglvlun tourist town. Our brief for the travel agent was to choose 4 star hotels and non smoking room near the center of actions.
The rating of the location depends on your point of view. This massive well kept complex is literally in the middle of seemingly nowhere. It is one and a half hour drive out of Shaoguan. It did not suit our briefing of being in the center of action but it obviously made the best use of the natural hot spring geography.
However, once you get here, you will be pleasantly surprised.(yes, I know, there is no such word as serendipitously, but, how does one describe this place?) The complex is massive, luxurious, meticulously manicured and well maintained, comparable to the Caesar Palace in Las Vegas. Entry to hot spring is included in the tariff. Room is big, beautifully and tastefully decorated. Bed is soft and comfortable. Towels are clean and crisp. This is a place to relax and indulge. It has a Zen/Buddhist theme. Breakfast has a good range of predominantly Oriental flavor. Not great but good enough. The staff are very courteous, helpful, and speaks good English. There is no argument this is a 5 star facilityMore
