The gite was very comfortable and had everything you could need. The kitchen was well equipped, with lots of cooking utensils and pots and pans. The beds were a little soft for our liking and they squeaked when you turned over. (This is why we have given the give 4 stars rather than 5). Our boys were delighted that there was British TV, via a Sky box. Getting the football scores when we arrived made the long journey more bearable! They were not so happy to realise that there was no Wi-fi at the house, but could pick up 3G in the garden. The pool was great, if a little chilly.
The gite was in a great location for the canal. It was about 5-10 minutes to get there by bike, but considerably longer on the way home, as it was all up hill. The canal was very pretty and we cycled into Josselin, which took about an hour and a half at a very gentle pace. We used bikes that we had hired from the owners. They were in good repair and easy to use.
Steve and Sorrel, the owners, were very pleasant. They checked in on us one evening to make sure everything was OK and to see if there was anything we needed.
All in all, we had a lovely weeks holiday in this comfortable gite, in a beautiful and quiet location.
We had a really enjoyable week here. I found the trip advisor booking process itself quite clunky although the owners were very friendly and helpful before and during our stay. We were late in arrival but they popped over to say hi and kindly gave us some tea bags.
The location is very remote although a short 5 minute drive to nearest shop and 10 to the nearest supermarket (Reguiny). It's a beautiful area - lots to see and do within a 30 minute drive and we had plenty of cycling on good quiet roads.
The property is recently refurbished to a good standard and has everything we needed and nice touches like charcoal for the BBQ. Bathrooms are good and there's a decent shower. Negative points to note are that the interior walls and floor have very poor sound insulation and the beds are rather on the soft side (I appreciate this may be personal preference!). Downstairs is quite dark although this also helps keep the house cool. The outside pool is great (note it's quite small and unheated). I would also note that the building is split into 2 properties and although the other occupant wasn't there during our stay - you'd feel very aware of it if they were using their adjacent back garden at the same time.
Overall - a good experience and I would be interested to see the owners other properties as well - perhaps for a return visit.
