Stay at Manor Back Water Resort added an extra excitement to our memories. The location is nice, so is the property. The rooms are neat and very spacious with decent interior walls. We enjoyed our symptoms meals with the broad back water view amist a pleasing environment all around. The stay was worth the expense.

We stayed here on last day of our 6 days Kerala trip. We were pretty excited about kumarakom and Manor backwaters from the reviews We got from TripAdvisor and friends. We were disappointed since the property is not located on the proper backwaters. Further, the hotel owners have not maintained the property well. Talking about room, it was pale and stinking. They did not clean it properly after check out of earlier guest. Bathroom knob was broken, washroom was dirty, we got the blankets and towels replaced. The hotel ran on generator. Cable TV was not working condition. The staff is helpful and polite, but is is not a good sign if you have to call them every now and then. The view from hotel didn't impress us at all as we had full backwater view from allepy houseboat. First of all Kumarakom is not the place to visit once you have been to allepy backwaters. The only tourist attraction is bird sanctuary that too should be visited early in the morning.Trust me this hotel does not give u backwater view, it is just a small water stream.

We (2 adult+2 children) stayed at this resort for 2 days from 14th Jan to 16th Jan 17.

Was booked by a travel agent as part of a package, so no issues while booking. Resort is centrally located & is only around 200meters from the main road (this approach road was quite badly maintained though). Boating pick-up point is available within 1km from the resort; also are the bird sanctuary & other sight-seeing spots in close proximity.
Check-in process was smooth. Had requested for a room on 1st floor for better view of back-waters and same was provided immediately. The room was spacious & enough to comfortably add an extra bed for my daughter. The bed was king-sized and comfortable for 3 of us (incl younger kid).
The room had all basic amenities which we wanted including AC, fridge, TV etc (no coffee-maker though) & neat bathrooms. TV was however an old LCD TV with 18inch screen. The room provided good view of the backwater and we could see the shikaras/houseboats plying through. We also got to see different bird species right from our balcony. Hot-water was also available in bathroom (but only during certain specified timings).
Amenities available included a small swimming pool which we did not use, a poorly maintained TT table with broken bats, and a lawn with a loosely tied badminton net in the middle (no markings etc for proper game). There was a gym room which we did not bother to check. My kids being first timers, enjoyed playing TT and badminton.
They have a canteen which prepares food only against specific order which needs to be placed atleast 30mins in advance. This is because of the low number of guests staying there & limited staff in the kitchen. There was a decent list of items on the menu-card & the quality of the items served on order were pretty decent. We ate only veg food though. Break-fast was complimentary & buffet type with decent spread.
Even our check-out process was smooth enough & we left with pleasant memories of the hotel.
To sum it up, the resort is a good mid-range property ideal for family/group of friends /for those looking for a short/silent stay amidst nature but can be much better if only the maintenance is improved. It was a shame that such a good property had a low occupancy even during season time.

With reference to above comment, management wishes to state that almost all most all the guests on 26 Dec. were satisfied with the service and several have given positive comments in their feedback. The hot water issue was due to some technical problems which has since been rectified.

This hotel is a good property at a good location. Bird sanctuary is just a km away. We loved walking back from the sanctuary to hotel. Boating too is nearby. However this hotel needs maintenance. Decent view of backwater. Food is average. Staff is helpful. Hot water is a problem and we had to followup many a times.
