Despite a slight hiccup on arrival when it appeared we were not expected, nothing could fault our 4 night package at this beautiful resort. Every attention to detail is given to the spotless and luxurious accommodation set out on various islands between the Bakers' Bungalow and lagoon and Vembanad Lake. Furniture, ornaments, accessories, spacious outside bathroom and a glorious plunge pool create such a beautiful home that it is hard to make the most of the fascinating backwaters within walking and boating distance of the resort. To add to all this bounty is the adjoining Bird Sanctuary, but no need really to venture that far when the birds come to you.
The staff are friendly, attentive and generous - Prince in particular checked all was well each day and ordered us a packed lunch when realising we had to leave early for our flight. His instructions went slightly awry, but the food was most welcome none-the-less. The ayurvedic doctor gave great advice that sorted out a bad back, and all made us feel part of the family.
Food is absolutely delicious - stick to the local Keralan fare and enjoy every mouthful. Evening snacks after a short cruise on the lake were another lovely touch. To be surrounded by water and not to come across one mosquito is testament to the care and thought that has singled out this Taj property.
My only recommendation for consideration in future improvements is to investigate how to quieten the A/C - but by cooling down the accommodation whilst we were having a wonderful dinner by the diya-bordered lagoon, entertained by local musicians and dancers, we were able to have a most comfortable night each time without any A/C.
Our heart-felt thanks to all who made this such a memorable holiday.

Dear Guest,

Thank you very much for your write up.
I am indeed happy to note that my team members were able to take care of the initial shortcomings and make your stay memorable.
I am happy to also note that you were partcularly impressed with the food served at our resort.
As you mentioned, there are many artificial means using which we keep the water within our premises moving so that ripples are created to prevent breeding of insects and mosquitoes.
We do look forward to welcoming you back to the resort again very soon

Thanks and regards
Sibi Mathew

Staying in Taj-Kumarakom was a great experience. During our stay we found the resort has got lot of activities to offer to the guests. The evening boat ride is something one should not miss. The resort is next the bird sanctuary and for bird watchers it's a must visit place. The best way to cover the bird sanctuary is to visit it from inside and follow it up with a boat ride from outside. The staff were very caring. Wherever required they took extra care of our son who was just 10 months old.

Me and my husband visited Kumarkom on our first wedding anniversary. To make everything perfect we chose this resort which turned out to be the best decision we ever made.

The ambience of the resort is completely serene and you will feel like you are resting in the lap of nature which will definitely rejuvenate your soul and body.

The staff was very courteous and kind. They arranged cake and flowers for us which was really a very pleasant surprise.

The food was palatable especially the Kerala dishes, they were awesome.

Though there are not many options to explore around Kumarkom, this resort itself gives you immense no. of options to create special memories. We thoroughly enjoyed pottery, cycling, sunset cruise, evening games, Ayurvedic spa and boating.

The evening traditional dance performance was amazing and the 700 oil lamps in the evening were incredible.

Would definitely recommend this resort to everyone.

We spent 3 nights in this resort in a villa with a private plunge pool. It was beautiful and vibrant with plenty of light and air and was decorated very tastefully. Our villa was so amazing, I could have spent every waking minute in there. But the rest of the property is equally amazing, with a lagoon running through it, plenty of birds and the Vembanad lake in its backyard. This resort makes for a most pictureseque and relaxing getaway. The food is average and the staff at the main restaurant are a bit snooty and off-handish, but they did give us a few free desserts and the rest of the resort more than makes up for the waiters!

There are many activities on the resort - paddling in the lagoon, angling, pottery, cultural shows in the evening, free evening snacks and games (if you're into that sort of thing) and a sunset cruise and an optional backwater cruise or speedboat ride. I would suggest doing the speedboat ride for the rush it gives, and it also takes you into a village area to see some of the local life. There are also rabbits, ducks and a turkey to keep children entertained.

The resort is located just next to the bird sanctuary. While this means that many exotic birds make their way to the resort, it also means you had better watch where you sit, because there are bird droppings everywhere. A chair is clean one minute, and has a big splatter of something or other the next minute. But this cannot be helped by anyone and the staff are always helpful with cleaning things up.

This is an amazing resort in an amazing location - a place to go back to time and again.

We stayed at the Taj for four nights at the end of our holiday and found it to be a very relaxing time. The staff were very attentive and nothing was too much trouble for them. Every afternoon they would have our Indian Champagne on ice and the beers icy cold. We stayed in a Deluxe Villa which was very private The food was delightful, thanks to Prince and his friendly staff. They provided bikes to get around the complex and getting a private driver was easy as well.

We both enjoyed the location, staff and the whole ambience of Indian life. An absolute pleasure to have stayed there.

The place is just AWSOME!! Huge property. Very Calm and quite. The staff are very attentive and courteous. The food is the best part, some of the best Kerala cuisine I have had in Kerala. Must take a speed boat ride on the lake, as I would not recommend a one or two hour slower boat rides. That should be at least a night stay on a "Kettuvelum" to experience the true essence of backwaters. The cottages are placed quite afar from each other, so there is no disturbance from adjoinig rooms. The pool is clean and child friendly. There was sunscreen and clean towels available and complimentary chilled fresh fruits after a swim. Showers and changing rooms are big and clean.
We stayed in a Luxury Villa the villa was big and the bath was the best part with open air showers with only pigeons taking a peek.
Of all the hotels I stayed in their linen and robes were the best.
The only downside was not the hotels fault as there were weeds all around the deck that stops you from boarding the boat from the hotel. You need to walk to a nearby jetty point.

Room Tip: Stay at the cottages or the villa overlooking the lagoon
