Our goal was to have a resort style wedding in Ontario with minimal hassle, and the Bayview went above and beyond to deliver this experience for us.

Jason and Jeff were excellent communicating with us, and understanding the feel we were going for... an outdoor wedding, on the waterfront, and a relaxed atmosphere. The resort handled the welcome bbq, bonfire, and wedding ceremony, and reception with ease. Our guests were all raving about the food at the dinner reception, the chef did a great job.

The location is beautiful, which was great with the photographs. We set up on the waterfront dock for the ceremony, and it was the perfect spot. Jason even helped us set up a PA system for live music outside.

In general, the resort is rustic and charming (Most people were reminded of Dirty Dancing). It was great to have everyone on site for a few days, and the amenities on were great for activities. Our guests loved being able to enjoy the fire pit, games room, and SUPs included with the resort... And buffet breakfast was a good opportunity to mingle.

My only advice to prospective wedding planners would be to the venue early (a year for us), and that includes securing your preferred rooms (which we slipped up on). We arrived a few days early, and stayed an extra night, which was great for the wedding prep and resting afterwards. Full disclosure, the trains come thorough the site regularly, but I was surprised at how fast we got used to it.

I would recommend this place in a heartbeat if you're looking for a nice great outdoors wedding venue, and experience staff to deliver a professional but casual experience. We'll be visiting again for our anniversary!

Spent the weekend in a suite by the lake. Our suite was nice and clean, but it was quite dated. It would be nice if the suites were updated and this one in particular was a poor layout. Couldn’t open the fridge because of how it was placed in the closet, couldn’t comfortably watch the tv from the bed or the chairs, also - there was some sort of animal running around in the back wall/ceiling of our suite, this was a bit unsettling and it sounded like I may end up sharing a shower with a squirrel!
The grounds of the resort were nice. Unfortunately, due to the weather we weren’t able to enjoy a lot of the facilities (beach, pool, etc).
The breakfast buffet included in the room rate was actually quite good! Take out only from the restaurant for the rest of the day though.

Thank you MuskokaGrownGirl for visiting our resort this past "chilly" weekend.

We appreciate your comments on the layout of the suite - we will definitely take them into consideration during our ongoing renovations.

It is too bad that the weather didn't cooperate and you couldn't enjoy the outdoor facilities. I hope you will consider visiting us again so that you can have some more outdoor fun.

Thanks again for sharing your experience,

Dianne Hounsome

Bayview Wildwood Resort has been one of our family’s summer destinations for the last 7 years.
We started going there when our kids were little. Now as teenagers they still love it there. BWW is a nice family resort with a safe environment, nice staff, variety of family programs and good quality food. It’s 90 minutes north of Toronto which makes it a great getaway destination even for a weekend. One down side is the weedy water at the beach which makes swimming unpleasant but that’s very common in most ontario lakes. The accommodation is old and worn out but that won’t make it an issue considering other facilities and advantages.

Thank you so much mercmp for continuing to make Bayview Wildwood Resort your summer vacation home!

We are happy that you and your family continue to enjoy the family environment, staff, food and programs. As with all resorts, continuing upkeep of facilities is important and we plan to do our utmost to freshen up our accommodation units on a yearly basis.

With the intense heat this year the water levels are low and weeds in the lake are thriving. We hope that this will not continue to be an issue for our swimmers.

We wish you a healthy and happy year and look forward to welcoming you back next summer!

Sincerely,

Dianne Hounsome

Bayview Wildwood is a great summer vacation destination. It is pricey, but well worth the cost. Call and work with the their registration folks to find the week that works in your budget! They have all the normal lodge style buildings, some are a little dated but that is so part of the charm of this place. Great day programs for kids 3-12 like canoeing, crafts and all those games you remember playing at camp. Easy signout for kayaks, canoes and paddleboards at no additional cost. Huge swimming platform and beach. Many different daily activities for adults too. Bocce, tennis, baseball, euchre, trivia tournaments to name a few. Your family will meet friends for life here. Many families have been going here for 10+ years. Food is fantastic, breakfast and lunch buffet style with lots of options for kids and adults and dinner either three course from menu or buffet style (your choice). Buffet tended to work better for kids and my wife and I ordered off the menu. Delicious food, well prepared. They make changes for vegetarian and gluten free options. The staff bend over backwards to provide you outstanding service at every point. This IS that all inclusive vacation where you don't have to cook or clean, but set in beautiful Muskoka country only an hour and a half north of Toronto.

We have had our 5th large family getaway at Bayview Wildwood Resort this past week and it was perfect! We had all ages and also had a cottage with a full kitchen to help keep the kids fed at all times! Our dining room meals were fantastic and the activities and beach and pool kept the kids occupied and happy all day long! Parents got some 'down time' and there was room at the cottage for everyone to visit! We had some family fly into Muskoka Airport and it was just a short drive away to pick them up! See you again next year-everyone can't wait to come back!!!!

Room tip: there are packages for all types of family, from cabins to luxury cottages!
