Old shops stile and place where you can see topical old job and old handmade items (especially textile items like dresses) but mix with new things. If you are in Zibo...you must to visiting.

This was a change of plan stop, a short distance from our hotel and frankly, it was a good change.

First, let me say this; if you've been to the "water villages" around Shanghai, there is no need to visit here. It has the same general feel, but is neither as big or as attractive, but that isn't to say it's not without merit.

Entrance to the shopping streets is free and there's a real mix, ranging from the "traditional" in the form of food, clothing, pottery, instruments and art, to the "random tat" in the form of fake peppa Pig toys, t-shirt transfers and models made from bullets.

You could easily walk around teh shops themselves for an hour or more and there is some nice stuff in there (allow me to recommend the "Moon River" coffee shop for refreshments, reasonably priced and good quality). You can also pay for tickets to enter some of the courtyards and museums and these are pleasant enough in their way, including an art gallery, a silk factory and a movie museum (focussed largely on projectors and the evolution of the Chinese revolutionary movie - quite interesting for a film buff like me, but dubious for many, I guess).

I wouldn;t go far out of my way for this, but if you're within thirty minutes, it's worth the stop off.

If you in the area, this is a nice visit for a few hours. There are a few interesting shops and some old restored architecture but only a few local places to eat. I'll need to go back again as I'm sure I missed something looking at some other reviews and history.

Entrance to the Ancient City is free but a ticket (buy at the entrance) is required to visit the old houses and factories. Lots of little shops selling the usual tourist tat.

Excellent view of Chinese old houses, culture and history. Old habits is still on the streets. Good food, cheap shopping stores. A place to stay at least 4 hours.
