We've stayed here 8 times over the past 5 years, and it offers tremendous value for money, set in a lovely town. The swimming pool and sauna (new addition a couple of years ago) are excellent, and they've remodelled the reception recently which gives an indoor bar area.

Restaurant options nearby if you want to eat out, and free parking and children's play area too - a great option for an overnight stop en route to the West coast if you're heading there, or just to visit in its own right as it is well-placed on the main route.

Room Tip: If you are travelling with family, ask for Room 8 or 9 at the top of the hotel - two separate bedrooms offer lots of space for an amazing price, and nice and quiet.

A Hotel hidden in the Bretagne countryside very quiet and with all the services but in a lovely traditional building. Perfect for visiting Mont San Michel avoiding the crowd and the expensive hotels there. The hotel has also a good restaurant but a little expensive. Keep the access code with you if you plan to get back after the 22.00 with the car otherwise you will find the parking close.

Stopped here to break up the monotony of the journey South and to visit Fougeres castle.

Hotel is a bit odd only a few rooms in the main building the rest are in additional buildings behind. Room 15 was ok for our requirements for a family of 4 for 1 night but much longer it would be crampt with the sofa bed out and double bed (2singles). Pool and fitness equipment arr in a separate building and good for relaxing and not serious use. Pool is warm and perfect for kids to play in.

We didn't eat in as the hotel is in the centre of a charming town and plenty of places more suited to our young family (2 x 4 year old boys).

Parking plentyful and behind the hotel with directions well marked. There is also a private play area for kids too.

An ideal stopover on travels from the North to the South-West. Very quiet and clean, has a small but very warm swimming pool and sauna (sauna open in the afternoon only). Rooms spacious and comfortable.

Driving back up to Cherbourg from La Rochelle we needed one overnight stay, price being paramount at the end of our holiday!! And when we found the Lion d'Or at £52 online we snapped it up. Seamless check in, reception/bar area clearly recently updated, very modern pool/sauna/gym facilities, rooms very comfortable (perhaps in hindsight we might have paid £8 more for the next level of room, not that ours werent satisactory). The village itself has a nice feel to it, although bar/coffee options feel limited (a couple of bars that had the locals feel about them, to the extent that holiday makers might not feel totally welcome). But the hotel has a nice restaurant with set menus betwen 20 and 35 euros. And there are 3 creperies in the village too.

On the night of our stay there was a festival going on, floats, marching bands, fireworks, disco in the village square. It was testament to the soundproofing that the noise didnt effect our nights sleep.
