An absolutely fantastic night: the six course Game menu was perfect, with some innovative and beautiful combinations; the wine pairing was interesting and very well matched; the staff were welcoming, friendly, attentive and enthusiastic about all of the food and drink they were offering. The pub itself is a beautiful building with a great atmosphere, we will definitely be returning.

A lovely introduction to the new kitchen and front of house team with a seriously well polished six course meal and wine pairing. The food tasted excellent and was beautifully presented, the wines were very well matched! I really enjoyed having the opportunity to meet the chef and GM. The prices were very reasonable and great value for money. Cannot wait for the next event, a real hidden gem!

We were lucky to get a table at the first fine dining evening at The Magpie. ‘Game Night’ was a total triumph and I hope the dining experience will be repeated soon. Sunbury has not had fine dining until now. The new chef and manager are bringing something classy and new to this beautiful village. The rabbit terrine was out of this world. The highland venison saddle was perfectly cooked and dessert of pressed pink lady apples and blackberry parfait sublime. Totally fabulous evening. Well done! Please bring a regular gourmet night to Sunbury.

Magpie has a new head chef in Brian and his food is great. Just had their 6 course game tasting menu. Innovative delicious cooking. And the wine matching was as good as we have had anywhere.

Well done to the new team. We will be back.

I have been a regular visitor to the Magpie for the last few years. On my last few visitis I have noticed that on the stairs before entering the bars you can smell the toilets, this needs to be addressed I am surprised that it hasn't!
The food it's a bit of a boring menu but always a good standard, wine expensive 'why' you would drink more a few pounds cheaper. When I first use to come to this pub about five years ago, £20 would buy you your share in the wine and your meal it is now more like £35!!! Quite a hike in prices, I think the restaurant with a cheaper menu and wine list would do very well, but it doesn't it seems more food is sold in the bar and that's expensive!
