I have visited the small Sent shop in the Dorsoduro for more than 15 years, and there I have purchased beautiful, handmade glass bead necklaces on every trip to Venice.
On this trip, I visited that shop again along with the Sent workshop and gallery in Murano.
The gallery has an extensive collection of the original works in glass and metal by the Sent sisters, as well as some pieces by other artists.
The gallery is open, light and airy: definitely high-end and non-commercial, unlike some of the cheesy glass-blowing tourist traps on Murano.
Jewelry is designed by the Sent sisters and made by hand in the workshop in the gallery, but the glassworks is at a remote site.
The salespeople are knowledgeable and friendly and have time for conversations.
The Sents have a dedicated, international following, and production is deliberately limited.
If you are interested in something truly beautiful and unique, not just a souvenir, visit the Sent gallery in Murano or one of the small shops in Venice.
For years, every time my wife has worn a Sent necklace, people comment on how beautiful it is.
I had been looking forward to this visit all year and it was fantastic. What an amazing building and location. The architecture is perfect for the beautiful jewellery, which is simple, elegant and chic. My friends and I were truly excited by the displays of both jewellery and glass vases and art pieces. I will be going again as soon as I am able. The staff were attentive and helpful. The style might not be for everyone but you can’t make everyone happy but it did me 100%.
Doing my homework in artisan unusual shop in Dorsoduro I made a note of this name. We passed the shop on our first night, just a few minutes walk from our hotel in San Salute on the way to our restaurant, but obviously closed.
It looked so interesting I could not wait to pop inside to see what was there.
We were served by a very lovely lady - we bought a great piece of Murano glass to go with our collection we have at home.
Brilliant and beautiful shop at the side of a small canal and just over a bridge.
I recently purchased the black circles necklace at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. It is elegantly minimalist and surprisingly affordable. Love! When I was in Murano, five years ago, it was difficult to find work by local artisans. This is the real deal!
We visited the Murano location. The selection was delightful, the owners friendly, and some of the most affordable pieces that were not the usual tourist pieces.
Although I didn't visit the Murano location I DID visit both the Dorsoduro and Ponte Moise locations and can tell you that not only is the work unusual but the lovely woman with whom I had the pleasure of dealing could not have been more personable, knowledgeable or professional. I've been in the jewelry business (both on the buying and selling ends) for almost my entire life so when I first came to Venice I wasn't going home with just ANY piece of Murano glass jewelry! I did find one necklace but never discovered Marina and Susanna until this trip. Lucky for me, I found them at last and now have an exquisite piece to add to my life. Their pieces are truly wearable art and not for the faint of heart...buy and wear them if you wish to be NOTICED and COMPLIMENTED!
