We stayed on Vakarufalhi Island October'16 on an all inclusive basis. Overall our stay was very positive & we would recommend this island.

Staff - Fantastic, friendly, welcoming and work very hard to make sure your stay is stress free and the best it can be. Special mentions to Prabhath who took care of our booking and made our trip seamless. We booked direct with the island and Prabhath arranged seplane transfers also. Hameed (restaurant manager) who organised for us to have the most fantastic Maldivian curry on our last day for lunch. What a treat, thank you. Ahmed (restaurant) who also looked after us wonderfully at every meal. Mohammed (bar) who was very attentive & Masumba (room boy) who kept our room immaculate. Spa ladies, fantastic treatments, so good I went twice! All other staff that we dealt with, too many to name, were brilliant and made sure that we were having a great holiday.
Room - we stayed in water villa 206 - wow - best room we have encountered anywhere! Spacious & high spec. Sunset view & the windy side of the island which suited us as a cool breeze is great. We were given wine & fruit in our room on arrival. Nice touch.
Food - good standard at every sitting with plenty of choice no matter what your taste is. Fish was amazing!
Drink - nice selection of cocktails & mocktails. Not a great selection of beers. Wine is ok.
Beach - Windy on the west side of the island with the restaurant/bar side being more sheltered. Staff raking & clearing shells & coral all day long to make sure the sand stays as soft as possible. Would recommend you take beach/water shoes for swimming.
Snorkeling - End of the water villas & the east side going down to the boat dock are best. House reef is good but not the best we have stayed at. Good variety of fish but not huge numbers. The larger part of the lagoon on the west side has larger areas where there is not so much to see so you need to swim up to the lagoon edges in the calm waters.
Weather - this wasn't the best unfortunately as unusual high winds hit the area. It did rain every day but on most days it did the normal Maldivian thing of clearing up straight away. We only had 2 days where it was non stop rain. This made the water much cooler than normal. Nothing you can do about the weather, so as long as you have a good book or snorkel in the rain, it's still a very relaxing place to be.
Trips - variety of snorkeling trips & fishing village trip to choose from which start from approx $45. We did the whale shark trip & turtle trip which were really good. Don't expect to be the only group in the water though which I found quite overpowering when doing the whale shark trip with people knocking into you to get a better view. Boat crew from Vakafufalhi were brilliant though- thank you.
Spa - you need to go. Staff very experienced and treatments exceptional. Just an amazing experience with a chill out ginger tea on the deck afterwards.
Free Wi-fi - available in bar & reception area only. Paid for option available in other areas.

Only considerations for the hotel manager would be -Room needs to have a kettle & not just a coffee machine as water not hot enough for tea and the mini bar should be included in the all inclusive price or at least have some drinks in there that are included. Free wifi availability in rooms possibly.

Room Tip: Water villa is the best.

We loved every minute of our stay at Vakarufalhi and did not want to leave…..The pictures are an understatement and doesn't do it justice - this place is absolutely stunning and PARADISE is the best word to describe this amazing place.

Here are some pointers:
VIILAS - THE OCEAN (over the water) VILLA IS MUST…The beach villa located on the land is nice but it does not compare to the over water ocean villa. We initially stayed in the Jr. Suite Ocean (over water) which has a nice view and allowed us to watch the sunrise each morning. We were then moved to a beach villa for one night in exchange to upgrade to the ocean villa suite for the remainder of our stay. The only positive of the beach villa is that you're assigned a beach attendance who orders drinks (of course the drinks cost). The ocean villa is the best and we were on the sunset side. We preferred the sunrise side but it was still beautiful and such a wonderful experience.

FULL BOARD/ALL INCLUSIVE - The all inclusive is nice and the food is delicious (it does not get boring like most all inclusive resorts). We disliked the limited drink menu, options, and hours - if you like a wide range of drinks - you will be disappointed with the drink menu/option as anything outside of their limited menu will cost you. We were unable to order coke during breakfast because all inclusive starts at 11am (just an example).

SPA - The spa is awesome and affordable. The ladies took excellent care of us. The view is awesome. We visited the spa twice we liked it so much. Truly relaxing with an ocean view as well.

STAFF - The staff is accommodating and extremely friendly. We loved them as they made us feel like family especially the dining staff - the manager (Henry) and employees went over and above to serve the guests. They paid attention to every detail and were extremely proactive.

Resort - The beaches are beautiful and clear. The place is absolutely amazing. Some of the guests mentioned they had visited the resort several times which speaks volumes.

We look forward to visiting Maldives again as it was a truly amazing experience.

Room Tip: best views, all inclusive, full board

We arrived in Malé to find rain, which seemingly was par for the course for our wedding. We were delayed in the sea plane (Trans Maldivian Airways) terminal for about 4 hours, before catching our flight, which had one stop, to the resort. On the one stop, the weather prevented us from leaving right away, and we were welcomed to the reception of another resort (Vilamendoo), to wait out the storm (I will write them a nice note as well). Once we arrived, we were greeted by Myra from guest relations. She met us on the sea plane dock and helped us transition to the boat for the resort. Upon arrival, we were seated in reception and given the information for our stay. We booked "all inclusive," however her paperwork indicated "full board plus," which is a package that is slightly less inclusive (I think it limits drink options). We showed our confirmation, and Myra quickly remedied this discrepancy.

We were shown to our room (water villa we booked). It was very nice - exactly what we were hoping for.

During our stay, we did the following:
Sunset cruise for dolphins - we saw neither. Not the resorts fault. They served a nice cocktail and snacks. Well done.
Scuba Discovery (for wife) and Refresher dive for me - the dive shop was great. Very nice, professional and gave a great experience. My wife was a bit nervous and anxious with the whole breathing underwater thing, but Antonio was phenomenal with her and coached her to comfort. She had a great time, as did I. My guess is they have their own page on TA so I will give them a nice ratings as well.
"Turtle Seeking" - the was a boat ride to a couple of different reefs to search for sea turtles. We saw 4 or 5 (may have seen the same one twice). Don't expect them to be the same size you saw in Finding Nemo, but very cool none the less. This was a great excursion. Highly recommend.

We ate all meals at the restaurant - all were buffet style as advertised. The food was very good. Probably 3-4* dining, which is perfectly fine for our tastes. The setting was quite nice.

The only discrepancies / challenges / room for improvement items:
1) Consistency of reservation with what the resort has on file
2) We were promised a free bottle of wine, which we never actually got, although they did give us a mini bar credit eventually for the bottle of wine we did take from the room
3) Consider expanding dining hours to offer more flexibility.

We were told this was the worst weather they had had in the Maldives in 2-3 years. Despite this, they gave us a great experience.

Would definitely go back.

Room Tip: Book all inclusive - definitely worth it.

We picked Vakarufalhi for our honeymoon and it was excellent!
We stayed in the water villa for a week, the room is huge with a balcony and stairs directly to the beautiful water.
The food was very varied and tasty. We don't eat seafood and we had plenty to choose from. The staff was super nice especially our waiter Hameed.
Small island that allows you get the silent that you are looking.
Hope we'll have the opportunity to come back!!!

Room Tip: Take the water villa and All-Inclusive package.

We stayed 4 days in Vakaru during our honeymoon and enjoyed it very much. Island is very cute/small and rooms are spacious, very nicely decorated, all good things.. we stayed in the water villa and that was such a surreal experience. Thank you for a nice stay, nice honeymoon and all the romantic surprises hotel had for us! And I didn't mention the food, which was the best food I had over the years - it was delicious, consistent and plenty to choose from...
