This is a great place to explore the Isle of Lewis & Harris. The chalet is well equipped and has everything you need to make your stay comfortable. Our only disappointment was that because the weather was so hot and sunny, we didn't need to light the woodburner/stove. The chalet has its own back garden and if it's sunny, is sheltered and a great place to watch the sun set. The area has stunning cliff walks and has many places of interest nearby to cycle to or to get to by car. Stornaway is about a 20 minute drive and has a Co-op and Tesco (Co-op is bigger and has more choice) although there are community shops dotted about too. Neighbours are friendly and two in paricular, Billy and Ian are a font of knowledge about local Harris Tweed Industry.
We would definitely return as a week wasn't enough.
Great little cottage with everything a couple needs to be very cosy. Clean, tidy and the thoughtful owner made sure we had milk, coffee and biscuits for our arrival. Peaceful area and lovely neighbours.
Easy access to all parts of the Island including Harris.
We didn’t want to leave!
Tigh Na Beart is a fantastic place to stay, it is just right for the two of us with all the comforts you could wish for. Perfectly located to go off and explore the surrounding area. The local neighbours are so friendly and very helpful with knowledge of the area. The Lewis & Harris isle is so beautiful with stunning landscapes and glorious beaches we don't want to go home. With our love of photography it is ideal with so much photographic fodder. I love the fact that rush hour traffic is 1/2 a dozen sheep in the road for a few seconds! This place has got to be about the most beautiful place on earth, love it!!
Slightly removed from the rest of the world, the Outer Hebrides provided the perfect location for our honeymoon, and Joey's cottage, Tigh na Beart was a wonderful place to stay. A brilliant size for a couple, had a well equipped kitchen, a delightful log fire, cosy bedroom, clean bathroom, what more could be needed? Also many friendly locals around, one family that even invited us to Sunday dinner after church! Would also recommend a drive down to Harris (not too far, took us about an hour from the cottage) while staying, for while Lewis is beautiful, the slightly more mountainous terrain is quite stunning. Joey also provided a pint of milk in the fridge, and some lovely flowers that kept the whole week we were there. Overall a wonderful stay, and we would love to return at some point in the future.
Joey has thought of everything to make guests welcome. Very comfortable and ideal for 2. Handy for travelling to all parts of Lewis and Harris and very close to Calanish stones - well worth a visit. A lovely sandy beach just 10mins walk from cottage. We had a really great time and would love to go back.
Joey's place is fantastic. It's a modern, well furnished place with a great wood burner and everything you might need contained within (including a picnic bag and beach towels!) The beach is lovely fine sand, just a mile's walk away and the crofting community surrounding are so friendly and helpful. Thank you kindly for a great stay.
We had a grand relaxing week .Didn't manage to get to Dalmore Bay because of the grounded oil rig but plenty of other beautiful beaches. Other reviews have said it all. Can only agree.
