We stayed in a Deluxe King Room (booking.com calls it so, but I assume it was "Harbour View Classic" according to the hotel's website jargon). The location of the hotel is great: walking distance to the central Ganges (shopping area, cafes, etc.) and 5 minutes to the ferry terminal. My 9-year old loved and enjoyed the jacuzzi tub in the room (there was also a walk-in shower), and my husband and I enjoyed the beautiful view of the harbour. We didn't hear any noise from other rooms. Although our room was not renovated yet (so the carpet and curtains look older), it was a pleasant stay; great value for that room. There was a fridge, coffee machine, and a tv - so basics but enough for a short stay. The receptionists did not look very experienced, but they did their best and we had no problem during check-in, our stay, or check-out. Both of the young ladies were very friendly and helpful. They allowed us a late check-out, which was a lifesaver! We heard that the hotel's new restaurant had good food; but our daughter was so curious about a pub and the pub meal, so we went to Moby's Pub across the road which accepts families with kids until 7 pm (this is so unusual for North Vancouverites). Overall we enjoyed our stay and liked the hotel staff.

Room Tip: great water view, jacuzzi tub in the Harbour Classic room

We booked a last-minute trip to salt springs in March. There are very few places on the island which are pet friendly and seem like a decent accommodation. We saw pics of the Harbour Hotel and which appeared to be a very modern and renovated property. The hotel allowed dogs, so we were excited to book a room for an anniversary trip. Once we arrived, the woman at the front desk escorted passed the “nice” rooms to the “dog room area”. I guess if you own a pet it’s assumed that you are dirty and your pets are also filthy. The room was very old and musty, it wasn’t at all what we had envisioned given the updates on the website. I was actually a little afraid to let my dog sleep on the floor of these rooms. In the morning I heard a dripping sound and looked up over the sink to see a leak and pretty significant drip coming from the bathroom fan. It was our first visit to salt spring island and it was definitely a huge disappointment to put in such a terrible room. The bed was like sleeping on concrete, not comfortable at all. We noticed they had a jacuzzi tub in the room and thought maybe this would make things a bit more enjoyable. Not only did it not work, but the woman at the front desk had no idea “those rooms” even had jacuzzi tubs. It was actually quite comical at that point. Just book an Airbnb if you have a pet, do not stay at this hotel if you are a pet owner. You’ll just be treated like a filthy animal.

Thank you for taking the time to write, as a dog lover myself I am so sorry you had a poor experience during your visit. Based on your feedback we have expanded the amount of rooms we take pets in to include some in our new wing. It is definitely a fine balance between us dog owners and the people who are allergic but I am sure we can improve on this. Thank you again for the feedback and I hope you will visit Salt Spring again.
Best Regards

Booked a two night stay at the last minute and was pleasantly surprised. Stayed in the newly renovated room with a king bed and a view of the harbour. The room was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. Bartender in Woodley's (Jesse) was amazing and so patient. Front desk was helpful and funny!
Thanks to everyone for a great experience.

Room Tip: The harbour view rooms are great!

Lovely architectural renovations on a beautiful site and we enjoyed a delicious breakfast.... the espresso machine is in transit and will arrive soon. The stainless cutlery is well designed and the round wooden tables had a great feel to them.
A china tea pot arrived with a choice of green tea, peppermint, chamomile and red rose. We were told that rates for the few unrenovated rooms looking down the best view of the harbour were available through the holidays at 90 per night the best rate anywhere on Salt Spring Island. For the Holidays. The renovated rooms are of more costly. Christmas and New Years dinners are expected to fill up quickly. I'm obviously excited for them.

Woodley's is a 75 seat restaurant in the newly renovated Harbour House Hotel on SaltSpring Island

8 bar side stools, table seating for 48 and bench and bench and stool seating for another two dozen on raised tables around the perimeter, gas fireplace, fresh, new and modern

A great change from old worn out restaurant atmosphere elsewhere

Good but limited menu - pickle soup is a must try

Apps, full mains and large Shiraz for two with a 20% tip for excellent, knowledgable and friendly waitstaff all for $100 Cdn

Great improvement for a night out experience on SaltSpring
