Joch itself is a delight (see other reviews) and this is the perfect place to stay if you want a comfortable well-furnished holiday home for 6 or 7 people. It has a beautiful location in this hillside village with lovely views over the valley of the river Têt and the lake at Vinça. At your back is the beautiful Canigou massif. There is a wonderful airy rooftop terrace and a small but pretty garden with a dining table and barbecue. The kitchen is extremely well equipped, providing ample opportunity to put the excellent local produce to good use. Spotlessly clean, with en suite facilities for all three bedrooms, a large and comfortable living/dining room and friendly, very helpful owners. Highly recommended.
Joch is a perfect example of a rural French village. Pretty cobbled streets, water channels, friendly people ( brush up on your basic French- they all like to say hello) and breath taking views. There are no shops or bars but a bread van comes every day and the nearest town is only a 5 minute drive.
The house is utterly charming- an original village house as quaint as you would hope but wonderfully comfortable and extremely well equipped. Eat either on the pretty garden patio or the amazing rooftop terrace with stunning views over the valley and across the Pyrenees and enjoy the peace and tranquillity of old France.
We travelled to some lovely places in the day, visited abbeys and monasteries, walked the walls at Villefranche and swam in the oh so refreshing freshwater lake every evening but always looked forward to returning to our "home".
We absolutely loved it. A real find.
