What a wonderful location with lovely views of Beaulieu River and its comings and going (tides and boats) and that's what earns the rating BUT…
1 The cottage is priced and advertised for accommodating eight but with one bedroom sleeping four it is hardly suited to eight adults. And with another bedroom being in a scarcely converted old wooden garage with no toilet…
2 Seating is also inadequate for eight and neither is the kitchen equipped for eight: no large pans and less than minimal crockery. We had to take turns with cereal bowls!
3 Several window blinds had broken strings making them difficult (one impossible) to raise fully.
4 The weather was very hot and sunny but the sunshade for the garden table was missing and initially the management, based at the hotel opposite, refused to provide one. They had a function and their guests were deemed more important.
5 The laundry is a joke - a washing machine and tumble drier squeezed into an outdoor cupboard with a badly installed and leaking machines.
If the cottage were advertised for four, plus two children and all the above inadequacies were attended to I would recommend this cottage, it would be really lovely. That garage bedroom would have made a great games room for bad weather but we just got the impression the management was somewhat greedy and not bothered about quality.
