We had a light but tasty lunch in this small country restaurant. Even though they were very busy, they made every effort to ensure we could sit outside on a pleasant fall day. A great place to have lunch on the village square and not far from the Abbazia di Monte Oliveto with the fine frescoes by Sodoma and Signorelli. It’s a short drive to the Abbey, but there’s also a steep up and down path for hikers.

Would love to give a better rating, but out of everyone at our table, mine was the only dish seriously worth raving about. The other dishes that were ordered by my group of friends were ok, but not exceptional given the prices. The biggest disappointment though was the service, which appeared to be the " B" team. The young woman rushed with ordering, before we had proper opportunity to study the menu, she immediately returned with her pen, this was very early during lunch service, there were only 2 other tables occupied so there was certainly no reason to rush orders to the kitchen. She first brought the wrong wine, offering a substitution of another, but we ordered a Rosso di Montalcino for lunch, not a Brunello ( which we would enjoy for dinner but bringing a substitution offer of Brunello at twice the price was inappropriate when there were a number of other excellent Rosso di Montalcino on the menu). Then she brought a completely wrong meal, but seemed so naive as to what service should be expected as to not offer profuse apologies, only a simple shrug and a return much later with the correct dish, a pasta with fish, one would need a microscope to locate the fish. Dishes that were ordered specifically as a secondo request brought at same time as primi. She just didn't get it, and really requires more training and supervision, because I felt she really let down the kitchen. Given other's recommendations in the area, and the excellent reputation of this restaurant I would say its worth a visit, its quite likely we just had a dud visit, but perhaps try on a weekday when the professional service staff are available.

Very pittoresque and beautiful atmosphere, excellent service, average food = the food did not meet our expectations. In fact one dish was too salty, another was not al dente. Perhaps we were unlucky as the kids loved the pici con ragu.

5 stars for the location
3 stars for the food
But food is the most important in a restaurant, therefore overall a 3

My family and I had an amazing meal. We had the most incredible artichokes which are a speciality of the city of Chiusure. The service was fantastic.

The food is simpe and most affordable. The great concept of understandable simple courses makes this family restaurant unique.
Everything is focussing on simplicity, good taste and the family feeling. A second home for many.
The papardelle, pici and other pasta is famous. The deserts are ( if you still have room) a feast. Message to the owner; do not ever change... you are such a lovely place to go to!
Grazie mille, Eric
