We were at Pittenweem Arts Festival today and stopped for a nice lunch. Can't fault service, choice of menu and comfort. Clean, pleasant staff. Will visit again

We stopped off for a bite to eat during Pittenweem Arts Festival. The café had approximately ten tables occupied, so it had a healthy number of customers but on cloudy and damp afternoon, it was not overly busy.

Nevertheless it took ten minutes for my daughter to get her order taken at the inside counter and another long wait for the food to come out. Staff seemed distracted and overwhelmed - there was not a professional feel to service. It was clear from the overall atmosphere that the staff just couldn't cope with providing consistent service in a busy café (which is clearly less busy during the rest of the year).

They appeared to be using a small slow cooker for the soup (meaning it probably had to keep being refilled, something they probably don't have time to do when they are busy). My filled roll came with plain tuna mayo (tuna and sweetcorn mayo was advertised on the board) and didn't appear to have been buttered. The plate lacked care and presentation and the soup wasn't really made to a professionanl standard. There wasn't a great choice of cakes for my kids (I think there was only a choice of two items).

I feel if this café are going to offer service during PAF, they should limit the number of tables they put out in relation to what they can cope with. They are charging £4.50 for a bowl of soup and overall are not offering great value for money on their food, therefore people deserve a decent standard of grub and prompt service if their money is being taken. Otherwise they should also think about reducing their prices.

If you can't cope with the level of business guys, because it's obviously way more than you're used to, then organise yourselves accordingly so that you can do better for your customers.

We were visiting Pittenweem for the arts festival and stopped here for coffee as the place looked lovely and had outdoor seating. I waited in a queue for 30mins to order 2 coffees and 2 scones! The two young girls were trying hard to cope but were clearly very inexperienced. They were joined by the mother of one of the girls who was so rude to people commenting that "I'm not washing dishes all day so give coffee in paper cups" and complaining about how busy they were. If it wasn't for the nice surroundings and good quality baking this place would be a disaster - which is where it's heading if they don't address the rude and disinterested staff member!

Really rather nasty and personal review from a very strange lady who appeared to be earwigging a private conversation between me and my daughter Very snippy in what is a very difficult time for us Some people can't wait 5 minutes to be served We are not Starbucks or any chain that employ masses of staff and dont pay their taxes We are just hardworking people struggling with grumpy customers in the Festival

Popped in whilst out for a walk. A lovely 'arty' chilled vibe, great service and cake to die for. What's not to like?
