“Our second stay, still as perfect as the first time !”
Reviewed January 21, 2018 for a stay in January 2018

This was our second stay at Chateau de Tocqueville and it was just as amazing as the first time.

The house mixes state of the art confort and the experience of Chateau living.

The surroundings allow for both cultural visits, walks in astonishing scenery and good food especially sea food

“Magical times in majestic settings”
Reviewed March 29, 2016 for a stay in March 2016

We recently stayed in the tower at the chateau du Tocqueville to celebrate our mums 70th birthday and we were all blown away by the beauty of the chateau and the grounds. We are all very well travelled and hands down this was the most picturesque place we have stayed at.

It was the perfect setting for our family gathering, we enjoyed the tennis courts, tea on the gardens, enjoyed the wonderful lake and beautiful walks and family time in such sumptuous settings. Danielle the manager at Tocqueville was so incredibly helpful and such a warm person, happy to answer all my questions before we arrived so I could plan my mums 70th in advance and she couldn't have done more to help us throughout our stay. Simone the housekeeper was also fabulous.

The Countess de Tocqueville also popped in to wish my mother a happy birthday and chat to us all which was lovely. The chateau is full of charm and generations of fascinating history and also has the benefit of having all the latest modern conveniences and the most charming lift/elevator!

We enjoyed the beautiful large open fireplace each night in the drawing room and found the cinema room on the top floor perfect for movie nights!

The kitchen was full of herbs and spices to use at your disposal and had ample utensils for all types of cooking. There was also table linen, dinner service plates and candelabras- they thought of everything.

You're a stones throw away from the historic sites of Normandy and the pretty town of Barfluer.

Thank you for such magical family memories and for sharing your home with us and its wonderful history.

“Heaven on Earth!”
Reviewed July 18, 2015 for a stay in May 2015

Chateau de Tocqueville is absolutely heaven. My husband and I have traveled extensively all over Europe and the US. Chateau de Tocqueville ties for first place in all the places we have stayed. The grounds are gorgeous, the Chateau beautiful, elegant and comfortable, and the reception was warm, personal and friendly. I started most mornings with a run from the Chateau down through the town of Tocqueville. It was a peaceful and beautiful way to begin the day. From there we would jump in the car and drive to see the amazing historical sites in Normandy.

Chateau de Tocqueville is located in the gorgeous countryside. After driving through a charming little community, you can easily access the interstates. The drive is beautiful. You'll drive by the sea, wildlife and farm land. I've never seen happier cows than the ones we drove by on our daily treks to the historic sites.

We returned each evening to enjoy a romantic dinner next to the roaring fireplace. We have rented apartments and homes all over Europe. None have a kitchen as well equipped as Chateau de Tocqueville. They have every type of device or kitchen tool a gourmet chef could want. I was immensely excited to find herbs and spices in the cabinets as well. They have table linens and nice dishes to serve up the food. For larger groups, there is a lovely dining table that can seat many people. Since my husband and I were alone, we opted to dine on the comfy couches next to the fire.

The lush farmland in the area results in gorgeous produce and vegetables. There are also many great restaurants in the region. As a foodie, I had a difficult time deciding if I wanted a romantic night in at the Chateau with my own home-cooked meal, or a delightful fun dinner at one of the delicious community restaurants.

Our travels in Normandy and our stay at the Chateau rank as one of my favorites trips of all time. We will definitely be back. We have invited friends to join us next year and look forward to seeing their delighted faces as they explore the chateau, roam the grounds and curl up with a great book next to the fireplace.

“Authentic and elegant base to explore Normandy”

I was the unofficial guide for two couples who wanted to visit parts of Normandy they did not know. The Chateau's guest wing is beautifully furnished, with the most fabulous bathrooms. There is a spacious sitting room and a large chimney place. It is in the countryside, quiet, but very close to the charming harbor of Barfleur. There is easy access to great beaches for walking or swimming depending on the season.
There is a lift, or elevator!
